Hi ladies/gals wishing you the very best of a weekend.Just had to do my stopping in and saying hello.
Enjoy the day.
good morning friends
Hi there, I'm here, I'm trying to get all of the announcements posted.
keep going..michael may join in for a few minutes this morning when he wakes up
First timer, here ...... need some help .... how do you keep shoes and sox on the child without the use of heavy duty rubber bands, staple guns or footsie pajamas all day? We've been sick in our household (can you tell?), so the forever shoeless child (she can unlace a double knot) has REALLY cold feet.
Anybody want to take a crack at that one?
superglue isnt working???
Oh man, all I can tell you is if they want them off, they will get them off. Does she has slippers she likes with a fun character on them?
I have heard of you Don and Be...welcome, glad to see you.
I want you to know I'm working on your shower Amy. I just have to get a graphic made up.
I love Don and Be. their sweet little J Mei had a part in LynnMaries story. They are our Orlando friend and they rock!!!
So, are you getting REALLY excited Amy?
excited, nervous, overwhelmed
Sounds like motherhood. She is so darling and so well cared for. Maybe we should do a drive for her foster home in the future.
Congrats AMY!
I'm interested in the Starfish fundraiser....so what do we get for Amanda?
Good morning - thanks for the welcome and hi to Amy & Michael - it's getting close for our Georgia friends, eh?
Every Gotcha day anniversary we want to give back to China by sending things to her old home
when will you be shipping the stuff....I'm thinking of a theme for myself.....Valentines is too soon I guess.....what about green for St. Patty's Day??
Good Morning Carol!
Amanda needs clothing in sizes preemie to 4t for boys and girls, shoes, boots, underwear.
She needs infant/children's tylenol and motrin. Infant liquid vitamins, teething tablets. She likes the Little Noses Decongestant.
Don and BE...what about leggins??
I may ship a couple of boxes as we go along so I don't end up with one giant batch like I did last year. I'm not really sure. Amanda is working on asking some people who are coming to China if they can bring some of our things with her...she's really well connected. But the drive will be going all month. I will do the final shipments probably the second week of March since some people join in later.
Ok so I can go with a green theme!
I will throw in some meds because I KNOW how $$ that gets!!!
not sure if I have your address still...can you send it to carolwood34@comcast.net?
I sure will, thanks so much Carol.
Leggings! Thanks Carol! We're new at this, so this is a revelation. Now, leggings are kind of thin so do you think socks under the leggings will work?
Yes, Don and Be!! We cant wait to see you on our first FLorida trip as a family of 3
Amy what do you need for your precious little girl??
LOL..go for it!
they do have the winter ones that are thicker, but they are harder to find.......Emily puts on 5 pairs of socks at a time..she likes to dress herself...I think she remembers the layers from China....LOL
Yes, I am still waiting for a shower list Amy...
As soon as I get a graphic made up, I'll announce the shower.
I'm going to do it. I'll report back next week. Thanks, Carol!
Man on the floor!
I hsve no idea what we actually need. We did register at target, babies R us and amazon. I only did amazon since it has a lot of the China adoption books we like,
We do have some clothes...still need a lot but we are getting there
I'm so out of touch...do you have a theme, or are you like me, a little bit of everything????
Amy has a consignment sale invite, and we have an adoption community shower coming, and Amy will have a work shower and a bible study shower.
I'm so out of touch...do you have a theme, or are you like me, a little bit of everything????
Hey, Mike. Thought I sensed a surge of testosterone on line.....
sorry for the double posts...I'm on hubby's computer and it's a dinosaur....
RMJ, Emily wants your "kitty cats"
The Hello Kitty sign.....LOL
Yeah michael is here..Helloooooooooooooooo Michael
Hey there! I love how you announce yourself...it's like you are getting out of the shower or something. Look out ladies, Michael is here. Glad to see you!
So of Don or Be, I'm guessing it's the "questionable" one who is online with us?
Michael are you in that pool today??? LOL
It's 24 degrees here in MD
Emily is so darling! Hello Emily!!!
MIchael will be painting the room yello and we are going to have some green and purple sheets. MIchael is going to have some of this panda pics framed so I want it to be cute and girly so maybe a panda room with some other animals thrown in.
im not creative
My things for Sophia are a total hodgepodge. I have clothes, but very few 'girlie' toys.
Emily is going to type you something....ok here she is....
fuy66trercavx
She said it says "Kitty"...LOL
Was there any question, Michael? Reminds me of an old (and I mean OLD) Moody Blues album .... A Question of Balance.
Good morning all!
Don & Be - have you tried Robeez slippers over the socks? We love them.
Otherwise, tights work well.
Now I'm off to read the other comments!
I think that sounds darling Amy. I am so happy for you guys. She is an absolute cutie.
Good Morning Kelly!
We were discussing classic rock at small group last night. The lead singer from Stryper is now touring as the lead singer of Boston.
Oh yeah Pandas are a good theme!!! Easy to find!!!! Especially since we are near the Washington DC Zoo!!!
Morning TB!!
Good morning Kelly!!! We are excited..During my down time at work, I made a packing list and a to do list before China..My packing list was almost 8 pages long. Glad I am going to have friends downsize it
Hey, speaking of Amanda's fundraiser, she posted in her newsletter that she's in need of Woodman's Gripe Water for the babies.
It's available on Amazon.com
Yes, she loves Gripe Water. But I don't know if I want to ship it as it is really heavy and could leak. But Amazon should be able to ship it to her.
Well friends I'm off.....must get ready for my appt with tax preparer.....fun, fun, fun!!
Good Luck Carol, tax season is no fun.
You know, that could be a way for folks to get involved without having to box stuff up and ship it to you first, Kimberley -- just buy the stuff on Amazon and have it shipped directly to Amanda in China.
What do you think?
it was nice to see you here Carol
I sent Robin the CNY photo Kelly, and she sais you had sent it to her too.
It really turned out good. I don't like to be in pictures much, but that one with the girls I am happy with :)
I saw the gripe water when stocking shelves this week at Walgreens - The Pharmacy America Trusts
oh ps...I'm on facebook if anyone else is...feel free to look us up.....Carol Wood
People can always do that. So yes, absolutely.
My best panda pics are from the National Zoo. I love the outdoor habitat. Memphis and Atlanta are mainly enclosed. We were in DC in Oct '06, some event anniversary I think.
I do love Walgreens.
Hello Kelly - we have some Robeez and they work the best so far. Thanks for the suggestion.
Mike - do you do classic jazz? We're going to hear Manhattan Transfer this month - same vocalists for the last 25 years - smooth and classy.
Amy - pandas were on the top of our list until we went free form. You can't lose with pandas. We were at the St Louis Zoo and they had some pandas visiting from China. We caught them during a rest period so they were anything but playful. One panda repositioned himself while sleeping and the crowd weent "OOOooo" - you would have thought the space shuttle had just lifted off. Pandas - love 'em.
So Amy, are you going to stay on the night shift with LynnMarie comes home?
some event anniversary??? ummm Hello, it anniversary number 5!! Next trip to DC will be with LynnMarie
Michael DC Zoo has a whole new Panda area now...you and Amy will have to come up with the baby!!!
The thing is, with the gripe water (which I'd never heard of until Amanda's Starfish newsletter) is that she likes the Woodman's brand the best -- she says the others just don't work well.
Don and Be, I just went over to your blog..it is fantastic! I saw your Rumor Queen button.
Speaking of pandas, during our 2006 adoption trip, my sister (K1) and two of my boys flew to Chengdu and saw the pandas there -- we have fabulous pictures of our kids and my sister behind TWO giant pandas -- actually touching them.
I'm still a little jealous that they got to make that side trip and I didn't!
Don and Be do indeed rock!!
I think we can still do pandas and be girly...
As of 2 days ago, LynnMarie is over 15 pounds!
You do have some great panda pictures Kelly. Karen really likes them doesn't she?
She sure looks healthy in all of her photos Amy. You guys really are in a wonderful situation. She has been loved and well cared for.
Karen is NUTS about pandas --- and has been since she was a teenager.
She has a HUGE collection in her home, and her love for them makes it easy to buy gifts for her!
I think she and Mav and are getting serious....
Amy, LynnMarie is just adorable. I love that you're getting updated photos of her. You don't realize how precious they are until you think about how few there are of the early months, and then every one (even the "not so great" shots) are more precious than gold.
Kimberley, I think you're right.
They're going on a family reunion cruise next week -- so he's going to be meeting a whole lot of family in one fell swoop!
Kim,
Sent you an invitation to our daughter's blog with password. Had a few wackos hit on our regular blog so I felt better with her images on a private site. BTW - thanks for putting up the 'chat' on Saturdays - first time experience rocks. I'm off for some breakfast and will check back......
Thank you for the invite Don and Be. Joanna Mei is darling!
The pics and videos have been awesome..We are just ready to bring her home and get our schedule down.
fYI, if you want to be on her prayer.update email send an email over to lovinglynnmarie@hotmail.com
Good morning everyone!
Does she have any other SN besides the club fee which look like they have been treated already.
Good Morning Karen! How are you all doing?
We are doing OK. I was sick mid-week and I'm still recovering.
Yes she has some issues with her finger joints. they are contracted and will need some therapy to help relax them
Hi karen
Hi Amy & Michael!
karen, i hope you are better by next Friday!!
Are you all getting together next Friday?
Good morning Karen! How's your weather?
It's pretty cold in Michigan this morning!
I sure hope I'm better by Friday. I'll be climbing the walls and my house will be a wreck by then!
Does LynnMarie have hair bows or little headband bows?
Friday is our monthly adoption group and Saturday is the adoption community baby shower
It's cold here by Atlanta standards, but not by West Michigan standards!
Helllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooo Lovely ladies...
Hi Kimberley, just stoped in to say Hi, I love you and thank you for doing the awesome supply raiser.
You guys are going to have such a great time with all of your showers...how exciting.
Good Morning Daleea, how are you my dear friend?
We do have some hairbows but really not too many..not like some bloggers who have collected boxes by now..Im a bit jealous
Eli is staring preschool on Monday and he is so excited.
How fun for Eli! Micah loves preschool.
I'll look for some hair stuff for her then too. I LOVE hair stuff.
you are sooo thoughtful
Hi Kimberley,
I am better thanks.... I had an allergic reation to something over a week ago and broke out in hives... UGGGGG The steroids and benedryl the dr had me on really did a number on me... I haven't been functioning well. lol So I am so far behind in everything... I hope you are well!
I will email you later today with something I have been thinking...
I am off to sew. I haven't been able to but hopefully I can get something done today.
Have a beautiful weekend friend.
You are in my heart and my prayers.
Love you
oh WOW! Eli is starting pre-school... he must be so excited!
I will say a special prayer for your little guy to have a wonderful fun-filled day. And one for his Mommy too. lol
Mommies love preschool!
RMJ, Im still catching up but yes I will stay on night shift
Pre-school, huh? That's pretty big news!
I'm sure he'll have a wonderful time. I want to start looking for a PS for Katie. I was thinking about Chinese Village language school (but not until September).
He needs to have a better comprehension of his numbers and letters and I think spending time in a preschool setting will be good for him.
Daleea, I just sent you an e-mail.
Amy, if you work nights and Michael works days, then someone will always be there for little LynnMarie. That would be nice.
So what are the girls doing Kelly? Are they up and running around? How's my little Ella?
Has anyone ever been to one of GWCA's "East Meets West" adoption conferences? We went to one in Columbus OH several years ago and it was good.
One of the things they do every conference is have an orphanage director come and speak to the attendees, and this year (the conference in Baltimore) the conference speaker is the Director of Katie's orphanage. We weren't planning on going, but now that they made this announcement, we're considering it.
Anyone else going to this conference in Baltimore on April 18?
Kimberley, preschool has been awesome for Micah that way. He knows all of his letters and now knows what numbers are.
Both girls are up and running around. Two of the boys are up entertaining them. Actually, they're investigating a ladybug who got in the house -- they're fascinated with it.
I have heard of these conferences but never been to one. It would be very interesting for you to see her director. I wonder if she would remember little Katie.
yeah for Micah!! Cant wait to see him!!!
I have tried to work with Eli at home, but I think he will do better in a preschool setting. I think he should know more than he does. The preschool he will be going to focuses on numbers and letters/with their sounds and they do a lot of other things too. He will just go until May and then return again after summer. He misses the kindergarten cut-off by 5 days, so he won't be in Kindergarten next year.
RMJ, your family is just beautiful
Thank you Amy.
I have great news Amy, Daleea is going to design your shower graphic. Woo Hoo!
oh how fun!!!!!!! YIPPEE
It is WICKED cold this morning! The girls are all bundled up now and went outside to "shubble" the driveway with Daddy. We'll see how long they stay outside!
Kimberley, I forgot to tell you that I love the shot I took of you and my girls, and I hope (I know now) that you wouldn't mind me sending it to Robin. She told me she was going to post it.
Its stinkin cold here as well!! Cold for Atlanta people that is
I love that picture too Kelly. And it meant a lot to me that you put the girls in their Kimberley dresses. Your girls make my wait a little easier. Thank you for sharing them with me.
We went to another CNY get-together/dinner last night. The Panda Pals danced (the same dance we saw them do at the gala, Kimberley, with the fans and the lanterns) and Katie was totally into it. She announced that she wants to dance like the big girls, and then spent the rest of the evening proving it!
I can't wait until you're home with Sophia, Kimberley, and come to these CCGGGR events with us.
I'm still in my robe, so I haven't been out. It looks cold though and we keep getting more snow. Man have we had a ton of snow this year.
Amy,
The minute my post hits about LynnMarie's shower, I'm going to get e-mails asking for your shower list and e-mail. I only give it out to people who I know are bloggers here. But I will need a list.
You know we will be right there with you. I heard from Amanda that there might be a big batch of babies added to the shared list right after CNY, so I am hopeful.
what kinds of things do people put on the list??? specific things or jusst things in general
Alright, I should get moving this morning. Good chatting with you all.
Stay warm!
They will put specific books that they want. What types of clothing they want and sizes, so for example...spring dresses in a size 18 months. They put things from jiinkin kids or other websites they like. They will put hairbows, bottles, sippy cups by brand and style, chidren's silverwear. Girl bathtowels or blankets...tell the Panda Bear if that is what you would like.
Have a great weekend Kelly!
Back from breakfast - Be does breakfasts on Saturday - a bit more elaborate then my industrial breakfasts during the week - Southwestern omelette with avacado topping & salsa, corn muffins, fresh watermelon & papaya - no need for lunch.
We've started JMei on Flintstone vitamins (she's been on PolyVisol since coming home from China in July) - now, she wants more than one tablet - anyone used a placebo that tastes like a Flintstone vitamin? She's quite focused on having more than one.
Sounds like a yummy breakfast, we are jealous
You may want to ask for clothing in a variety of sizes so it lasts you a while. I would ask for 18 months to 3T.
Ill get you a list as soon as possible this week
My children take the vitamins that look like gummy bears. So far Eli is happy with just one. Hmm..would some type of sweet tart work?
Your breakfast sounds fabulous! I just have a cup of coffee for now. Tim usually makes Saturday morning breakfast since I'm usually on the chat, but he's dialed into something at work right now.
I'm so excited Amy! It does my heart good to have a baby shower.
Sweet Tarts! Good idea! We'll look for the junior size.
RMJ, you are such a generous chick! Thanks for wanting to do this for me!
Don and Be,
Maybe you could you mix them right into the vitamin jar and just take one of each out daily for her.
We've been friends for a long time Amy. Just promise to keep blogging after LynnMarie comes.
and you are creative RMJ
I'm not really creative, but I know some really creative people who always help me out...they make my ideas look good :)
are you kidding??? this is her life story..i couldnt leave the bloggiing community
Good! You know that some of the ladies leave after their babies come home. Many who I really cared about and I understand that they are moving on, but it's tough for those of us left behind.
Is LynnMarie anywhere Xian/Starfish?
Another good one! - lots of little deceptions to learn here..... we're actually using Jessica Seinfeld's "Deceptively Delicious" cookbook where she includes purees veggies and fruits into sauces and puts them on foods the kids will eat. We had spacetti sauce with beets (that's right - BEETS!) this week. Wasn't bad......
I meant so say anywhere near Xian?
I think that is great, especially if you have a picky eater. I like beets, so I can see them adding a unique flavor to spaghetti sauce. My children generally eat well, but they are growing so fast that I hope they are getting everything they need. Zach is almost 6'2" now and with all of his sports, I am hoping he is getting enough.
Tyler just hit 5'7" in 7th grade, our pediatrician says he is going to be tall and he eats next to nothing no matter what I do. Little Eli though weights 54 pounds and just turned 4, he's eating fine :)
Don and Be, I cant wait to read that book!!!
RMJ, she is in the Henan Province in XianXon City. Not sure if its near Starfish. Ill ask Amanda via facebook later
Can I hide in your suitcase, Amy?
FYI, target.com has a lot of great clearanced clothes
Come on Karen, we want you to come!
Quite the tribe there, Kim. Keep going ... you may be able to register your own NBA team.
JMei has gained 2 pounds since her last pedi visit in November. At 27 months, she now tips the scale at 22 pounds. Long & tiny.
Yes, I may send a box of supply raiser things with you when you go to bring LynnMarie home.
Yes, I laugh to think of when our little girl comes home. She will be so tiny in this house of BIG brothers.
it wll be wonderful
Yes, I think so too. I don't think we will be matched with a baby. Our agency is really struggling to get babies off of the shared list. They are all gone before our person looks. So, I think most likely we will be matched with a toddler. I think that will be a great fit for us though as Eli is 4 now and wants a sister to play with him.
Amy - Just picked up an e-mail from the Perrys - we'll be having dinner with them when they come down to DWorld in March - cool!
NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Not cool Don and BE!!! I hate being jealous..They are my favorite people ever!!!besides you of course
So you are near DW Don and Be? Hmmm....
We love our Orlando peeps!!!
morning.
stopping by for a while before going to plant bushes at church.
how're y'all?
Man I wish I lived in the South. It's freezing up here and it costs us a fortune to get to Disney World. What's the temperature down there? I hear you guys have been in shock with the snow and colder weather.
Hi Karen,
Man, you are planting a lot of stuff at your church. Good for you guys! Your sister was on earlier, but I think she's off now.
How are you?
Ok guys, Its been 3 hours, Im going to have to go get productine..Love you all!!!
Have a great day Amy!
Is anybody still on? It's getting quiet.
I should probably get productive too. My house is a mess after being sick all week.
the City required us to put in 7000 plants/shrubs/bushes/trees etc as part of getting our occupancy permit. By having volunteers plant them, we are shaving $70,000 off the construction costs. We are down to the last 1000. We had a 2 month break due to holidays and weather.
Right now, sunny & 52 - warming trend tomorrow - sunny & 68 - we're about 20 - 25 minutes from Disney parks and frequent them 2 - 3 times/week with our passes. We're very fortunate - it's a great perk of living here, not to mention the weather. Sometimes we go just to speed walk (on the slower days) and don't even enter one of the attractions. Food is $$$$$, so packing a picnic lunch is essential.
Kimberley, we've (Mav & I) been 'serious' since the day we met!!
He is a wonderful man. I am blessed to know him. Neither of us are perfect, and we don't have perfect pasts, but we accept each other and appreciate each other and respect each other for what we've learned and for the changes we've made to improve ourselves for ourselves, not for anyone else.
I AM SO JEALOUS! I love Disney World and Eli is just begging to go. But we think are planning for our referral that we believe is coming soon.
And he's cute, and funny, and incredibly smart, and honorable, and faithful to do what he says he'll do.
Yep, I like him alot!!
That sounds fantastic Karen. So..he's going on the family cruise? That should be fun. You know you are going to have to bring him to MI soon.
Hi all! Hope all is well with everyone. And, have a great weekend. I am kinda excited about all these on line parties.
Lea
xo
That is a MAYBE for this summer. His folks live in IA. We are trying to see if we can fit in a week or two this summer of flying into Chicago and going one direction for a few days and then the other and then back to Chicago to come home. We'll see.
Kimberley, I keep praying for your referral to come and for your spirit to be quiet while you wait.
I know it's agonizing to have to wait.
Good Morning Lea, how are you doing?
Chicago isn't too far away. 3.5 hours.
Gotta go get showered to go play in the dirt. Have a great weekend.
The wait isn't as hard as getting a referral that isn't your child. That has been the hardest part. The wait stinks for sure. We're hanging in there.
Sorry Amy - this internet thing, ya' know? We're looking forward to meeting the Perrys.
Have a great weekend Karen!
Signing off - it's been great. Have a fine week, y'all.
Have a great weekend! I'm going to close down the chat room now :)
I got off work early and heading right over here..
I MISSED IT.. darn it..
