Welcome to Dawn's Baby Shower for Lucy Joy!

Welcome everyone to Dawn's Baby Shower for Lucy Joy! I have been seeing a lot of people come in from Dawn's blog, so I thought I'd better get a post up to welcome everyone!

Dawn is asking for Books and Bows. Lucy Joy is almost 4 years old and has a beautiful full head of hair and Dawn needs some nice things to put in it. Also, if you'd like to send one of your favorite books, that would be wonderful!

If you have a favorite book in mind to purchase and would like to e-mail the title to me, I'll track them so that we don't send any doubles. timnkim@gmail.com

There are shower prizes for each 5th RSVP that I receive from a shower guest, so please leave a comment to rsvp and I will get you listed for a prize and e-mail Dawn's address to you. Please leave your e-mail address in the comments.

Meanwhile, we will be having a live chat session for the shower, so feel free to jump in and talk with us in the comments too!

Please take note that Dawn has created a travel blog where you can follow their journey to Lucy in China 'We Love Lucy'.

First shower prize goes to Verna 'The Bigs & The Littles'
Second shower prize goes to Heather 'Our Little Ladybugs'

*The shower has ended, but if you would still like to rsvp to send a gift, please do so in the comments section and I will get Dawn's address out to you. Thank you everyone for a wonderful time!

I'm back -- couldn't stay away from all this fun!

I'm laughing at Dawn's comment about the boys' and bodily functions. :) Good luck with that one!! Sarah just laughs and makes this funny face when the boys burp or "let one rip." Then they start laughing. I've tried and tried, but they are boys!

On the flip sid of that -- I'm sure your boys are going to be so gentle and loving with Lucy. When I watch the way my boys interact with Sarah, it just melts my heart. Having a little sister has been the best thing for them. They are going to be the greatest daddies!

Dawn and everyone, sorry I have to get going - It's Mia's nap time and she's had a cold/cough lately...need to get her humidifier going and then I'm taking my Anthony out :)
This has been wonderful! Dawn, you know you will be in my prayers and also sweet Lucy. I pray her transition into your family is quick and easy :) I will be following your journey from day to day while you are in China. Good luck and take care,
Joanne

Where is she??

redmaryjanes said...

Welcome back Sheri!

Carla said...

Yes, I am waiting for that cutie. I am afraid we have a few months of waiting....the wait doesn't seem to get any better with each adoption!!

Sheri said...

Dawn~

I just thought of something else. Start looking for souviners for your boys right away. We waited until GZ to look for things for the boys so we didn't fill up our suitcases early on, but there wasn't much in GZ for teenage boys.

redmaryjanes said...

Who are you looking for Carla?

redmaryjanes said...

Thank you so much for joining us Joanne, have a wonderful weekend!

Dawn said...

Bye Karen...thanks again for the advice.

Joanne...thank you for stopping by and all your wishes. Hope Mia is feeling better!

I just panicked a minute ago I didnt realize I had a new page of comments...205..WOW!!

Carla said...

Oh, just wondering which province Lucy is in..

Dawn said...

Sheri...any ideas on gifts for the boys?? Someone did tell me to have chops?? made for them.

redmaryjanes said...

When I get over 200 comments, blogger divides the comment pages. It's nice because you don't have so many to scroll through.

Yes girl, you are having a really big shower. I have 20 total RSVP's for you counting the ladies who e-mailed me.

Dawn said...

Carla,

Lucy is in the Hunan province...Changde, we are meeting her in Changsha.

Dawn said...

I am sooo touched and thankful. Wow!!

I do like having this new page of comments...I can't believe how quickly time flies...over 2 1/2 hours already!!

redmaryjanes said...

When you have some great ladies to chat with, the time flies.

Dawn~

We ended up getting the boys some really cool swords. Yes, a very BOY thing. As long as they are packed in your suitcases, they are fine. Olympic memorabilia or t-shirt might be good. Just keep your eyes open. I'm not sure if my boys would have thought that chops were "cool." :)

Dawn said...

Sheri...My youngest...well all the boys would love swords...great idea. I wondered about the chop thing...I didn't think they would love them as much as I might. And I dont want to pass up the Olympic memorabilia while I'm there....right??

redmaryjanes said...

I'll bet the Olympic memorabilia would be really cool to have. My sons would love the swords.

Dawn, just emailed you some photos of Katie's painted bottle.

Carla said...

We bought our kids chops the first time we went and they all love them. We have also bought swords, and t-shirts, and chopsticks from local markets and the hacky sacks with the feathers on them.

Dawn said...

OH my goodess Karen!!! That is truly amazing...and so much more than I expected!!! Oh I love it. I was thinking of dropping off the picture when we first get to GZ...like you said...and then picking up all the bottles (yours included) when we return to GZ.

Thank you for the picture!!

Carla said...

Congrats again Dawn. I must go finish cleaning. We have a 16th b-day to celebrate this weekend!!
I'll be following you on your journey to your precious Lucy!

Hey everyone...sorry I am so late but my little fish had to swim : )

I am so excited to see Lucy in her Mama's arms. What a beautiful girl she is : )

Kim..please send me the address so I can get some goodies to her (my RSVP..LOL)

On the stroller thing..we got one at the shop next to the WS where we did all our laundry. They let us borrow it for the time we were there and then we paid $8 for it when we left. We still have it today too : )

Sheri said...

Oh, I want to go to China again! It was amazing in so many ways, but especially because we came home with the best "gift" of all -- our daughter.

redmaryjanes said...

Hi there Laura!
Thanks for coming by!

Dawn said...

Bye Carla...thanks for coming!!

Hi Laura...glad you could make it!!

Dawn said...

Sheri,

I keep thinking that...no matter what souvenirs we buy...we are bringing home the best gift of all...I get so emotional thinking that she is living her last week in an orphange. One week from tomorrow her little life will change forever!!

Heather said...

I ducked out for a few minutes - had to get Hannah down for a nap and get Em from her playdate - Wall-E with her girlfriends:)

SO many comments - very cool!

Heather said...

One week - Dawn - is it not the most surreal experience ever - just wait til you get there!!

Sheri said...

Dawn~

Lucy's life will change forever and so will yours -- in an incredible way!

Heather said...

Well, this is short lived - Emily already snarfed down her lunch (I thought it would take her longer) and we have some errands to run. We have a date with Kim and the peanuts:)

Dawn - you are already on my prayer chain, in my prayer journal and I cannot wait to see Lucy in your arms. Blessings to you, girl - I wish for you a happy, healthy trip, just filled with the magic of growing your family.

All my love -

redmaryjanes said...

Yes, I am excited for all of you. I hope that her transition goes smoothly. I am sure that it will. Have you looked at some of the travel blogs on No Place Like Home?

Sheri said...

Heather ~

Send out love to Kim! Have a great time with her and the peanuts today.

Dawn said...

It is very surreal...I am trying to take it all in. I cannot wait to see her in person for the very first time.

Dawn said...

Thank you so much!!

Heather said...

Will do - have to say before I go - Ladies - this is one quality, classy group of friends that I am so blessed to know - my prayer is that all of us will see our desires of our hearts recognized (many of us through adoption:)

Kimberley - you are a wonderful hostess, thank you sweet friend!

redmaryjanes said...

You are so welcome Dawn! I hope that you had a good time. I'm going to have to scoot here in a minute. I have been on since 8am and my husband is wanting to head out and wish our neighbor a happy birthday.
