Welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat Group!

Good Morning Everyone! Today is the launch day for the Starfish Foster Home Supply Raiser! If you would like to help, please contact me at timnkim@gmail.com or leave a comment with your e-mail address so that I can contact you.
All supplies will be sent to Amanda, who is woman in China who started her own foster home to help China's most fragile special needs babies who may not survive in a traditional orphanage. Her orphanage is what we would consider a mid-sized apartment and she has up to 15 children living there at a time.
She raises money on her own through LWB to pay for their lifesaving surgeries and goes with them to provide the love and support that they need to survive the procedures. She loves and cares for them as she prepares them to be available for adoption.
If you join in, please put the graphic on the upper left hand corner onto your blog sidebar to show your support.
Also, please feel free to do a post to help the cause, I would really appreciate it.
If you would like to send a note for Amanda and the children, I think that would be wonderful and if you want to make a donation for the postage you can, but it is not expected. We are willing to cover the cost of shipping.

Kelly, I use bloglines and it saves so much time. I know who posts and check only those blogs. It's great.

redmaryjanes said...

Whatever you want to do Kelley. If you send money, I will do a post on what it was used for.

Kelley said...

Kelly, I hope you get your dossier soon! I know you must be just itching to get to Ella! She is such a little beauty. How does Katie feel about being a big sister?

Heather, I'm glad you're here!

Rachael, it's nice to meet you. It sounds like your daughter is doing really well!

Truly Blessed said...

Did anyone read the post I did about cartoon voices?

Well, I'm sitting hear listening to "Baby Bop" on a Barney tape.

Kelly,
I know that you are so anxious to bring Ella home. I just know that your paperwork is going come soon.

Kelly,

the post where you hear voices?

Rachael said...

You guys are really hopping over here with the comments!!!

Kimberley, if you have a paypal account, it's really easy to just put a donate button on your sidebar for the Starfish project. Then, people who wish to do money could just transfer it to you. Then, later you can post and let us all know what the money went for.

I did that for my Simple Wishes project last Christmas and it worked well.

Truly Blessed said...

Yeah, Karen, the post where I hear voices!

redmaryjanes said...

Heather,
Good Morning and Welcome!
I will get my address and the Saturday Morning Chat link right out to you!

k1 said...

Kel, what is the timeline again for going to Ella?

~verna said...

I like the idea of a paypal too.

I saw a group come in to Target last spring and literally by the shelves bare when the shirts and stuff were marked down to about $1
They were going to Panama or Central america on missions. It was cool to watch them check out.

Truly Blessed said...

Kelley,

Katie doesn't really understand yet. But, she does know Ella (or Jiao Jiao), and we do talk about her a lot. We've got pictures around the house and on the computer, and she never fails to say her name.

I don't think she understands that Ella is going to come and live with us and share her bedroom (and her Mommy and Daddy) though.

I'm going to wrap it up soon. have to get in a workout since I didn't do one yesterday at all, then hit the shower. Have a Women's breakfast from 9-10, followed by a devotional lesson from 10-11, followed by a Life Celebration (funeral) for a man that was an important part of our church and chaired the committee that I was on for our building project, followed by an informational meeting about the building project 4:30 - 6, followed by church this evening 6 - 7, and dinner afterward 8:15 - ?.

Tomorrow's ONLY plan is a Superbowl Party at Lisa's

redmaryjanes said...

Rachael,

We do have a paypal account but have never taken in money.
My husband will look into getting it set up later tonight if we can.

Thank you, that is a great idea.

~verna said...

Just want to mention that I got some onesies that are Christmas from Target -- red with a string of Christmas ligth. They say "no batteries needed" -- $1.75
And some little sleepers for $1.50
There are some great deals out there.

redmaryjanes said...

Man, I am so far behind.
Have a great weekend Amy!

Kelley said...

Kelly, Katie will be in for a big adjustment. You're taking her to China with you, right? (I thought I read that you are.)

Kimberley, I think you need a PayPal account, too. :)

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great weekend Karen!

k1 said...

Y'all have a great weekend. Kel, the #300 post is all your's today!

redmaryjanes said...

I think you all are right that there are some great deals out there. I bought a lot of sleepers for the fundraiser at TJ Maxx.

Ok Ok, I'll get Tim working on the PayPal.

k1 said...

Nancy, lets shoot the varmint!!! (the groundhog)

Rachael said...

Kimberley, the paypal button issue really is easy. I figured it out! lol.

Well, I'm on my second cup of coffee and I think I've sat in my jammies long enough. I'm going to say good-bye. Nice chatting with you this am and I'll check back later to see if you were successful on the paypal issue before I send you money.

Dannye,
Did you sign up for Becky's bloggy give away ? If not, you can go over and do that -- as can anyone. SHe's picking a winner on Monday. And rumor has it she might offer a discount to all entrants. Might be worth commenting!!!

Truly Blessed said...

Regarding taking Katie to China with us...

Our agency suggests kids under 4 not go. However, I cannot imagine leaving her home, and think that leaving her home would be harder on her than taking her with us. If the boys go with us, and Auntie K1 goes with us, Katie will go too. If the boys stay home, we might leave her home with them.

But there aren't a whole lot of people we could ask to stay with our kids for two weeks. That would be really tough.

redmaryjanes said...

I have never taken money for anything that's been done on the blog. For some reason money makes me feel like I have a bigger responsibility. If there is too much money, I will make sure that it gets into one of Amanda's Love Without Boundaries accounts to pay for a surgery.

Kelley said...

Time for a break...coffee for me, "stinky poo poo" diaper change for Miss Chloe. Be right back!

Chloe says, vguvg ugujrfc uhg vuug igjijgmjgf kfg , , , , ,gf , g ,tr,h g

we joked that Emily had a 10 pounder yesterday......up the back and down the sides......whew!!

My husband always seems to be away from home when that happens.................hmmmmmmmm

~verna said...

OK, ladies now she's gone and we can talk about her ;) jk

Carol, hi. I'm hanging out to chat. hope others will too

Kelley said...

Carol, that's funny! Tom's only done diaper duty a handful of times. But I don't mind. I've waited my whole life to be a mom, so I do even the stinkiest jobs with a big smile. I thought I'd never have the chance!!

Verna, I'm still here, too...

Truly Blessed said...

Hey Verna,

Did you ever do that blog makeover for Mr. Brian? I can't remember the old lady's name, but she's on a line of greeting cards...

You leave for China next week, right? OMG, you must be SO exited!

Kelley said...

OK, I have to tell you this. Chloe was driving me nuts trying to type on the computer and use my mouse, so I put her on the piano right by my computer. It has a "demo" mode. So she thinks she's playing all of the pretty music. She's swaying back and forth and drooling all over herself. I have to take pictures now...

Carol said...

Verna Hi! Early is not my thing.....

I wish you all lived closer a lady just gave me 6 trash bags..30 gallon size of BEAUTIFUL baby clothes and about half still had tags........I can't use all that!!

Carol said...

China next week!! OOOOH!!

~verna said...

Carol,
Can you send some of that to RMJs Starfish donation thing. THat is so great.
We are an hour behind RMJ. So I seem late but it's only 10:11 here.
Didn't get out of bed til 8:30

~verna said...

The west coasters should be joining us soon

Carol said...

oh duh..didn't think of that.....

I just peeked at your blog!!!

He is a CUTIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelley said...

Carol, I wish I lived close to you, too!

You know, I had a well-intentioned friend give me some baby clothes that her daughter had worn. Usually I'm so excited to get new stuff for Chloe, and it's fine if it's been used. But this stuff was all stained and yuck. I can't believe she gave it to me...maybe she got the "throw out" bag mixed up with the "give to Kelley" bag. I don't know...so out it goes.

~verna said...

Didn't get anything done for Mr Brian. I believe that ladies name is Maxine. I could pop over there and put a pile of them in the sidebar!!

Carol said...

I just glanced at the Starfish list...these clothes are bigger than she wants......

I adopted Emily at age 2...the lady gave me 4T and ups........

That's ok, I'm sure I can find some things....is someone going to keep a list of what is still needed?

Kelley said...

Kelly,
I couldn't imagine leaving Chloe at home for 2 weeks...I say by all means, take Katie. (My agency doesn't recommend it either, though.) The biggest problem you'll probably have is Katie being jealous and regressing a bit to be the "baby." But if she's there with you, you won't be worried about her back at home.

~verna said...

Carol, We are traveling with a couple from Maryland. We leave on the 14th. What agency did you use?

~verna said...

Carol, the couple from Maryland is adopting a 5 yr old. I should hook you up with them. Maybe the clothes would fit Madison. Let me get their web page addy for you.

Carol said...

oh Kelley I hear you I have been thru that too....

I throw out anything with stains....and shoes go in the trash unless they are really nice.....I'm afraid of foot fungus.........

But I kid you not I was cutting tags off this stuff!

how do you find local families with adopted children? Is there a site?

I'm trying to find a playgroup for Emily....

Kelley said...

Carol,
I need the answer to that question, too. Everyone I know has older kids...

~verna said...

Hi there, 1,000bloggirl! Happy Groundhog Day! I was going to use an acronym...but GOATB looks too much like "goat," and I don't want to seem insulting. :)

Truly Blessed said...

Hi "girl"! : )

I've seen your blog listed on others' but never visited. BTW, you only have three blogs that I counted!

blogger, my opera and typepad.

whereabouts in jianxi province? that's where my son is from (nanchang).

Just glanced at your blog...that is awful...

I really get upset when I hear American's complaining they are "needy".....so many milk the system.........

For those of you waiting, China will shock you......there are no poor in America in my opinion not after what I've seen........

~verna said...

Carol, try this site too. Maybe there is a chapter closer to you.

Just a note to the late comers, to check out Becky's bloggy give away.

Just leave a comment and email addy and you could win!!

Which format do you like better--Blogger, Typepad, or My Opera?

for Carol -- oops, didn't include in my last comment

~verna said...

I'd like to become familiar with other blog types, too. Are other ones easier?

Carol said...

kelley
I love the video of your daughter....Elmos World!! Too cute.....

~verna said...

I agree with Carol. Even the poorest of the poor here have medical help, food shelves and clothing available. In China, I don't think there are many options.

Carol said...

most everyone has shelter offered to them...I will say most...some are down and out, but everyone in America has choices.....not China......

Carol said...

Emily was abandoned at 7 months because she needed surgery and the family knew they were choosing life for her....................

Can you imagine Americans doing that?

Ok off my soap box...it struck a nerve.......

typepad is amazing, I love it -- but I got tired of paying for it after funding 2 adoptions in 2 years, so I came back to blogger (free).
