Saturday Morning Chat Group...

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat Group! Just leave a comment and follow along with everyone else's. I may need to jump out from time to time for a couple of minutes, but I'll be right back. Chat Group runs until 12 noon.
The song on the blog today is one that Glinda from 'Give Me Back My Slippers' sent on a cd for Sophia. It brought me to tears the first time that I heard it.

Morning Chat is Closed, Thanks for a great morning~

Good Morning Kim...
How are you this lovely morning???
Do you have any big plans today???

redmaryjanes said...

It's pretty quiet around here today. Tyler just passed his hunter's safety test yesterday and is out with my husband for youth hunt.
Zach is hoping to get out on his new ski.
Eli and I are watching Tigger and Pooh on the Disney Channel.
Are you working today?

Kim said...

Yes I have to work...
We are also having new windows and doors put in our house..
But it just started to rain.. hope it lets up... Because I don't let people walk in the house with shoes.. can you imagine...
Nick is going to go be a caddy for some prof. golfers today.. part of a club at school..
Glad to hear that Tyler passed.. HOW FUN..
And the new ski is Great.. That will be fun too..
So I was just up taking stuff and putting it away from the windows so it won't get broken

Dannye said...

good morning!! a quick hello before heading out for the day...

kim, what happened to eli's eye last weekend?

redmaryjanes said...

Getting windows replaced is some major work. I hope that the rain stops. We're having a new roof put on next week. I hate paying for things like that!

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye,
We don't exactly know what happened. He was throwing a fit and we told him to go in his room until he could behave himself. He went into his room and within minutes started screaming. He kept pointing to his toddler bed when I asked him what happened.
The nurse in ER thinks he threw himself down on the bed and hit one of the wooden siderails, as best as we could tell. It is getting much better, but I can tell it's going to scar. I'm putting neosporin on it now. Most of the stitches have dissolved already. When the scab is gone I'm going to start putting Mederma on it.

Dannye said...

liquid vitamin E is an amazing thing, when my brother was younger he got hit by a car riding his bike, he didn't look both ways before crossing, anyway, he hit the windshield pretty hard (broke it) and then landed on his face on the asphalt...my aunt told us to put the liquid vitamin E on it to keep it from scarring, and within a very short period of time it was gone (when he gets really really hot you can see remants, but hey otherwise invisible)...

Kim said...

I don't like paying for them either.. but these windows are old... and it will help on the AC bill and the dust... AZ has sooo much dust... I could dust every day...
I would if I didn't have to work..
HA HA
Glad to hear Eli is feeling better..Sounds like it is healing well.

Kim said...

Vitamin E is really good..
Colton took a face dive into the asphalt on his scooter and it was really bad... I put Vitamin E on his face until the scabs were gone and he does not have one scar

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye,
You know what? One of the ER guys who helped with the stitches recommended liquid vitamin e. He said there is no medical proof for it, but he thinks it really works.

redmaryjanes said...

Kim,
You put it on the scabs? Maybe I should get some now.

Kim said...

I put it on from the time he fell..
He doesn't have one scar..
You can alternate neo.& Vitamin E
too..

redmaryjanes said...

That's cool. I'll get some this weekend. It's righ on his left cheekbone, I am just paranoid right now about it scarring.

Dannye said...

well all i better get going, gotta pick up my mom and her friend, it's nails day today...i'll post whatever kooky colors i do later on...have a rain-free day!!

redmaryjanes said...

Have fun getting your nails done! I'll check on your blog to see what you do with them.

Kim said...

Well looks like I had better go.. Nick has to be at the school at 5:55 so I have about 10 min..
I will check in later to see how things are..
And I will post pictures of the new windows and doors... Can't wait..
Have a GREAT DAY...

redmaryjanes said...

I hope you have a great day too!!

Kim said...

Good morning Beautiful! Just wanted to pop in and say Hi. Have a lovely weekend...

redmaryjanes said...

Hey there Daleea!!!
How are you guys doing?
Any big weekend plans?

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
Is there some good adoption news?

Unknown said...

No, I didnt mean to imply anything. Im meeting so many adoptive families at work and its been so neat!

redmaryjanes said...

That is so cool.
Are you a labor and delivery nurse?

Unknown said...

No pediatric but I work a lot of Chinese special need children..

redmaryjanes said...

That would be so cool. Were there any in last night?

Unknown said...

Just families who knew families. But I had to explain several times to my nurse friends about the 100 wish quilt..THey make it sound soo difficult..haha

redmaryjanes said...

I have my squares. My mother in law is having a hard time picking out a pattern though.
It was a lot of fun collecting them though.
I'm trying to keep all of the things that I'm gathering on this journey.
I have met the most unbelievable women. I know that I will be a better woman when I bring Sophia home than I was filling out the paperwork in the beginning. I have grown so much already.

Unknown said...

This has been a wonderful experience. It wouldnt be the same without the wait (which I could live without) and the people i have made

Juliette said...

Hello girls, hope everybody is going well and wishing you a nice weekend!

redmaryjanes said...

I keep seeing families pulling out of the program and going elsewhere. And I'm not seeing a lot of new bloggers coming in like I was before. I think the wait is going to come down due to attrition. We just have to hand in there.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Juliette!
How is everything at your house?

Unknown said...

Check out www.babyhoffman.com

They are good adoptiing friends of mine and are adopting from Ethiopia during the wait..Hint Hint..he will be my guest blogger on Monday

redmaryjanes said...

That's cool. I read your last guest bloggers post.
At our new church there are adopted children everywhere and it jut makes my heart dance.
The world is such a big place and there are so many children who need a home. I'm so glad that we were led to this experience. It is priceless to me.

Juliette said...

Things are great! I had a crazy week with work and I have to prepare my little family this weekend because I am gone for training all next week.
My man is not so good with lunch box ideas and stuffs like that so I have to get the more I can ready...lol

Unknown said...

I love Steven, hes awesome and honest. IM enjoying the contest at my blog..I love giving away things

Juliette said...

Hope you had a good one too. Any big plans this weekend? Or just a relaxing one?

redmaryjanes said...

Tyler was in hunter's safety last week and passed the test. So today he is out with my husband for youth hunt. They left at 6am.
Zach just go a new ski and our neighbors who are big time skiers are out this weekend and he's going to ski with them. They go from dawn until dusk.
Apart from that, it's quiet for me and Eli.
I have a ton of laundry to do.

redmaryjanes said...

I read about your contest a little last night, but I have to get all of the details down still so I can participate.

Unknown said...

Sounds like you are keeping busy!

redmaryjanes said...

Last week was crazy. Zach had hockey on Monday and Wednesday. Tyler had hunter's safety on Tuesday and Thursday, tennis lessons on Wednesday. We were just driving kids around every night and we both work full time, so it was really hectic.

Juliette said...

Oh yes laundry...that reminds me I have one to unload. Thanks.
And we need to get ready for Mandarin class, so I think I leave you now to be sure we make it on time!
Sorry I can never stay long.
Amy, your contest sounds fun!
Have a great day everybody.

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day Juliette. It's great to hear from you.

Unknown said...

I love doing contests and giving things away. I was blessed with an awesome gift card and I love to share with others..Fun FUn

redmaryjanes said...

I like it when blogs are interactive with contests and prayer groups and gift exchanges. I cannot tell you how much fun we have checking our mail everyday.
Tyler LOVED the postcard exchange.

Unknown said...

I know 2-3 more who are mailing theirs next week..Too cool!

redmaryjanes said...

That's great, we'll keep checking the mailbox.

I'd love to see someone do a book swap like the bib swap.

LaLa said...

Then tonight...going to our FCC Autumn Moon Festival celebration : )

adele and dan said...

Good Morning Everyone,
Just wanted to say hey before Dan and I go off to breakfast.
Funny thing happened last week, a couple came into the pizzeria that read my blog. They were from Oregan and have two children from China. They told Dan they don't leave any comments but they enjoy the blog. Every cool!

Unknown said...

I really enjoy these chats!!! Wish I could be here more!

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,

Unknown said...

I have to be awake in n6 hours so I think Im going to bed..

You guys rock!

redmaryjanes said...

Do you mean the greenish one with the basketball player, it is a neocounter and if you click on the neocounter on the name, I believe it will take you to the site.
The worldmap is a clustrmap. I think you can click on it too and get to their site.
Neocounter is the best though, they have many types of counters.

redmaryjanes said...

Goodnight Amy!!

adele and dan said...

Great i'll give it a try. I tried maploco but the map was to big and couldn't figure out how to make it smaller. Computer challenged!

LaLa said...

I loved the bib swap too... a book swap would be fun : ) Dannye, any plans for the next one? I am busy buying Halloween goodies for my SP from RMJs matching : )

Nikki said...

Good morning Ladies! We just got back from breakfast...
I just got caught up on everyone's activities. RMJ, sounds like a nice quiet day for you, with your boys out doin' fun activities. (Zach will have that ski mastered by the end of the day, I'm sure)

I'm excited because my Aunt (GeeGee) is in town (from Texas)for the weekend, so we'll be hanging out with her!
Hi Amy, Juliette, Kim,Dannye, and Lala!

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye left to get her nails done. She does them every 2 weeks. I could go for another bib swap.

adele and dan said...

leaving now...have a wonderful day!!

redmaryjanes said...

Nikki,
I'm glad that your Aunt is in town. I am very close to my Aunt.
Yeah, Zach should be hitting the water within the hour, I'll let you all know if he gets up on that ski.
How's Lily this morning? Did she get her shower prize book?

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day Adele!

LaLa said...

Good morning Nikki...what is Miss Thing doing this morning? Seriously, she cracks me up!

I am excited about the Moon Festival party tonight. Tons of little Chinese boys and girls and the best is that so many waiting families come and you can just see the longing in them...I remember when we were one of those families just loving to see all the kids.

Mr.Brian said...

Not going to join the chat group but am going to wish all you lovely women a great weekend.
Have fun enjoy the fall weather and the beauty it brings.
Your favorite male blogger,

redmaryjanes said...

Mr. Brian,
You are my favorite male blogger! Have a wonderful weekend.

redmaryjanes said...

Laura,
Do you live in Michigan?

redmaryjanes said...

Oh, you live in TN. Sorry, silly question.

LaLa said...

No, but seems a lot of fun people do live in Michigan!! I can't take the cold though LOL

redmaryjanes said...

It does get REALLY cold and dark up here. January through March make me literally miserable. But this is where our family is, so here we will stay. I would love to be a Southern Belle.

Nikki said...

Well, ladies...
Lily aka Miss Thing is currently dancing around the house (falling every so often) and she is GOOD. She is excited to see GeeGee again, too.
Yes, RMJ, she got her prize and loves it very much...I am planning on posting a picture of her with it next week - you are soooo sweet.
Lala, your festival sounds absolutely wonderful (and OH how I wish you lived here in MI with us)

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day Nikki~

Rhonda said...

Holy comment stream, batman! It's hard to keep up with everything.

Holly said...

Hello! Hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend!

redmaryjanes said...

Hey Rhonda, how are you?
Have any great weekend plans?

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Holly!
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend with your family.

Rhonda said...

Well, we're taking a day off from packing (since it's Yom Kippur...and really I shouldn't be on the computer). We're doing another full day of packing tomorrow and the movers come in on Monday. Oh yeah, and I'm trying to get over a horrible migraine at the same time. I had to take two of my 'happy pills' yesterday within a couple hours of each other...so woo, I'm feeling nothing today. ;)

I'll be glad when all this is over...ugh.

redmaryjanes said...

I'm excited for you guys though. I loved you post where you were describing all of the apartment neighbors. I was totally busting up!

Rhonda said...

Heh, yeah and those were only some of the oddballs...there are others. ;)

I'm not having great luck with lightbulbs this week either. I knocked over a display at the lighting store and then broke another bulb at the house on Thursday. Our shelf in the front hall is a bit warped and it rolled right off...I couldn't grab it or I would have dropped the other four that were in my hands. Oops. ;)

redmaryjanes said...

Yeah, I read that post too. That is something that would have happened to me.
Do you have a lot of painting and work to do in the new place?

Rhonda said...

The painting was done about three weeks ago or so. The blinds came in on Wednesday, the carpeting came in on Thursday, as did our fixtures...now it's just a matter of getting our furniture in and putting up shelves in the walk-in closet. (I took them down since they were all warped, and now we're going to get a carpenter to put up a shelving unit thingamabob). He's also going to build us a pantry for the kitchen. Woo.

I got the bathrooms cleaned and set up on Wednesday and the kitchen is just about unpacked already. We're moving the boxes over ourselves...the movers are only moving the furniture. It's a lot easier this way, I don't think I'll feel as overwhelmed since I've already attacked a small portion of it.

redmaryjanes said...

A new home is the best feeling ever.
It's great that you have movers to handle the furniture. When we moved into our house, we did it all ourselves and it was a LOT of work.

k1 said...

Just wanted to stop by and say Good Morning to everyone before I get offf to work. Hope you all have a nice visit and a great day.

Rhonda said...

It's probably the best money we're spending...

I'm absolutely in love with the colour of our carpeting...it's called 'brown sugar' and we have merlot blinds. Mmmm.

Once everything is set up I'm going to have to take pictures and post them on the blog of bloggy goodness. ;)

redmaryjanes said...

Where do you work K1?

k1 said...

My "carreer" job is at with the Seattle PD. My "play" job is at TJMaxx.

redmaryjanes said...

Rhonda,
Yes, we will definitely need to be taking a virtual tour of the new homestead.
Are you guys to the point where you have had to redo any of your paperwork? I don't know when to get that started.

redmaryjanes said...

K1,
That's cool. You are a policewoman?

k1 said...

Yep. Am a Detective now, have been out of patrol for 10 years. Still get to make arrests and such, but usually not in uniform.

Saturdays I work at the store.

Rhonda said...

Since we're Canadians, none of it expires. When we get our referral (hopefully sometime before we collect old age security), all we have to do is have our social worker do a quick update and that's it...but we don't have to do *anything* beforehand. I guess we're "lucky" that way.

k1 said...

I wanted to say how happy I am that God led you to ABC. I know you had friends at your old church, and you get to keep them. But ABC has some great people too!

redmaryjanes said...

I LOVE TJ Maxx. I swear that half of the things we own come from there or Target.

Laura Nipper said...

Good Morning Kim,
Sounds like you are having a quite morning.
Its actually rain here. We are very it excited. It never rains SD. Have to get the car smoged today. Fun stuff. :(

redmaryjanes said...

Rhonda,
You guys are tremendously lucky regarding the paperwork. And the Canadian adoption bloggers are all so close. I think it's amazing how you guys get together all of the time. When I see the posts, all I can think is I would love to be there too.

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Laura,
How are you?

k1 said...

Truly Blessed loves TJMaxx too. She's the one that introduced me to it. I spent so much money there, I asked fora job. Now they pay me to turn around and spend the money there... and I get a discount!

Now, gotta get a shower, throw a load of laundry in, and hed to the store. Have a great chat.

Rhonda said...

If you ever find yourself in Toronto... ;)

k1 said...

I have to learn to spell too! Or at least type correctly.

Ignore the errors. Which you could come out to Katiepalooza next week!

redmaryjanes said...

K1,
It's been really wild the people who I have met or bumped into through this blog.
I really like you sister and her family a lot. They seem like really wonderful people.
I couldn't believe it when I saw her in church that Sunday.
It's a small world.

redmaryjanes said...

Rhonda,
Believe me, if I ever get up to Canada, I'll be letting you guys know! I can't believe that they are going to requiring a passport for us to get back into the US from Canada here soon.

Rhonda said...

We got into the habit of always taking it with us...you never know if the border guard is having a bad day. Plus, since I don't have my license, the amount of actual photo ID that I have is rather...puny. ;)

Laura Nipper said...

I am doing good. Glad its the weekend. We had the stomach flu all week so we are all finally feeling so much better.
How is Eli??

redmaryjanes said...

The only reason I have a passport is for the adoption. I haven't been to Canada in years, even though I'm in Michigan and it's not that far away to get to Windsor. But now that I'm all married, my trips over there with my girlfriends have stopped.

redmaryjanes said...

Laura,
The stomach flu is the worst! I'm sorry to hear that you all had to go through that.
Eli is doing good. I'm going to get some liquid vitamin E to put on the cut. It looks like it's going to scar, so I need to do whatever I can to minimize it. It's right on his left cheekbone, so very visible.

Mommy Spice said...

Good morning! Just finishing up my coffee and about to get on the treadmill. Thanks for your prayers for Mycah. I put an update on my blog. She does have leukemia, but it is treatable. We're looking at a 2-3 year process. Just so glad that there's a positive outcome for this little one.

redmaryjanes said...

Mommyspice,
I'm so glad that everything is going to be ok. I have been hearing about so many seriously ill children in the past couple of months.
I am so grateful for our family's health.

Laura Nipper said...

Yeah not very fun. Well I am glad he is okay. Hopefully it won't scar to bad with the liquid vitamin E.
We are putting up the Halloween decorations today. Aiden has been bugging me to decorate.

Good morning Kim, we just got back from a very very early morning garage sale. We had so much fun. The kids found stuffed animals...yuck. They love them though. I found an old manequinn it's cool. Hope you have a good morning.
Lisa

redmaryjanes said...

Laura,
I LOVE Halloween. I haven't decorated yet. I'm not sure when we're going to do it. Maybe I should start getting things together.
We dress up the whole house.

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Lisa,
You find the coolest stuff. I couldn't believe what you found when you were out with your new friend the other day. The frames are beautiful.

Laura Nipper said...

My son loves any kind of holiday. He loves to decorate and get the house ready. Looks like you might have to start getting ready for Halloween to. That's so cool that you decorate the whole house for Halloween. Aiden would love it. :)
