Eli's Owie...

Look at my poor baby. Eli fell yesterday and hit his left cheekbone. His cut required a trip to the emergency room and four stitches. It was just awful. They had to strap him down to a board and give him three numbing shots in his wound. Then the stitches. He tried so hard to be brave. I did too, holding back my tears so he wouldn't see.

The medical team was just wonderful. The stitches will dissolve on their own. They told me that he will most likely have a scar, but to keep antibiotic ointment on it and liquid vitamin e when it heals a little further.

Here is a close-up of his stitches and puffy eye. You would never guess he was hurt though, he was running around like a little wild man today. It hasn't phased him a bit.

Poor sweetheart. Hope he feels better soon.
I have a scar on my forehead and I think it gives my face character. Scars aren't so bad.bne

Aren't kids tough? Bless his heart! I'll bet it was even rougher on you than it was on him...it's so hard to see your babies hurt!

I don't think I know of a little boy yet that doesn't have a scar from an owie somewhere on thier body.

Ask TB about Christmas 6-7 years? ago when 4 out of the 5 boys (cousins) ended up in the emergency room in a one week span... 3 on one day!.. for injuries to their faces. It made for very colorful Christmas photos.

I'll put Eli on the prayer list.

What a good big boy he is! I remember sitting in the ER with Sarah, watching her get stitched up and trying SO hard not to cry. I'm glad your little man is okay.....

kids are amazingly resilient. I am always struck by that when they rally so well during stressful times.
Glad you held up Mom.

Did you see my tag from yesterday's post? I'm guessing you were otherwise busy with the shower and the trip to the ER. Take a peak. I owe you a tag.

And again, hope your little guy is on the mend.

BTW, when I had to get stitches in my head, Mom had Dad take me.

Years later, when I needed stitches in my finger, Mom took me... and passed out in the waiting room.

The next time(s) I needed stitches, I took myself.

So good for you for being strong!

I am so thankful he is doing well.
What's a boy without a battle wound?

When you mentioned the stitches, that was all I thought about--those horrible numbing shots--I know they are necessary but the process to get them is just not. Glad that part is done!

And I totally get you when you say that he was like "Nothing happend here!" and running around.... I wonder how on heck do they get the energy...

Good for you being a strong Mom and putting on a brave face.
Hope the healing goes well.

I know how hard that is! Bless his heart. It is so heart wrenching to see them in pain. Just think, he'll be able to make up all kinds of cool reasons for the scar! He's so cute, even with his face swollen up.

Awww, poor guy. He looks a little proud of his owie. I heard that ointment works well on scars, the Maderma (sp?) stuff.

He's such a cutie!

you did better than Ithink I would. It would break my heart to see them strap my boy down. I'd cry, maybe not infront of him, but later in the bathroom, or under the covers.

Oh no!!! And get some Mederma - like SeaStar said - it will help. My oldes had some glass break on his face - long story, let's just say he's is momma's son!! Anyway - 6 stitches later - ugh! He was 16 when that happened and he said that the scars would give him some character! Hugs!
