A Boy and His Cousin...

My nephew Joshua came over yesterday. It's the first time I've really seen him for many years. He is my first husband's brother's son (did you follow that?). Sometimes in a divorce you lose people that you really miss. I have always missed Josh and his sister Amy tremendously. It was great to see him.

Zach and Josh swimming and hanging out.

Zach is quite a bit taller than his older cousin.

How sadly true. We had 5 aunts and an uncle on our father's side, with umpteen cousins between them. When Mom and dad divorced, only the Uncle and his family made an effort to keep in touch with us. Now that we are all adults, there is sporadic contact with the aunts, but not much.

On our Mom's side, we were raised with her step brother's and sister's children (6 in all), but once grandma (mom's mom) died, they lost touch too.

I'm glad that you're able to make the reconnection early in the kids' lives!! Good for all of you!

I find it always nice to get together with extended family. Good times, many photos, lots of food.

My dh is still extremely close to his cousin. The boys are now in their mid 30's. Very special bond. Even roomed together in college.

It's so much fun to get to see relatives you have not seen in a while.
