As many of you know, my mother passed away when I was a teenager. When her best friend Chris found out that I was adopting a little girl from China, she sent me this bracelet along with many other treasures that are priceless to me.
I wear this bracelet often, whenever I want to feel close to Sophia. I cannot carry her in my womb as I did her brothers, so to me this is a physical tie that I have to her. This is her bracelet and when I wear it, it creates a feeling of her presence with me.
Last week I was reading Heather's blog 'Digging a Hole to China'. She shared a very personal experience that she was going through. It was something that she felt that she needed to include her daughter in, she is also waiting for her daughter from China. She described how she too wore a bracelet that gave her a sense of her daughter's presence.
Then, I was reading a post on Donna's blog 'Waiting for Lauren Elizabeth' and she actually has a blog called Close at Heart Jewelry, 'closeatheartjewelry.blogspot.com' where she sells adoption bracelets and other jewelry.
For those of you longing for a way to feel a physical manifestation of your adoption, this may be a wonderful thing. I know that it brings me comfort and when my daughter has her first child, I will give her the bracelet.

That's beautiful.
We all seem to have our thing. I wear a pendant with the Chinese calligraphy of 'love'. I put it on when I became DTC and wear it every single day...as I will until I meet my child.
I have a bracelet that I wear every day with a little ladybug charm. I found it last summer.
I am waiting for a bracelet from Donna. I loved it so when I saw it on her web site. I really like your bracelet. Is that the guardian angel charm?
Lovely. I will have to check these out.
I'll have to check the site - I too wear lots of things to keep me close to our daughter. I have a red bracelet that says Loved that our Social Worker gave me at our first home study visit, I also have expectatations bracelets (which are for pregnancy) but my bf gave them to me for each month we are lid - I think I'll need another set :) and on my right wrist I have a red string that my secret pal gave me. It all helps!
That's a beautiful bracelet. What a great idea to wear something so personal that will one day belong to your little girl.
I waer a bracelet too....I did while I wanted for Sophia as well. I was waiting for my confrimed LID to post about it! ;)
After we were logged in with Annslee we wore the red stretchy bracelets..they said linked by love on them. We took them off when we got home with her and they are in with all her stuff now. I am waiting to hear we are logged in to Vietnam so I can wear them again. I also got a jade pendant in China with the mother/daughter characters on it and I wear it almost daily!
I have a Red Thread bracelet that my husband bought me for our anniversary. I found it on one of the online stores. I am wearing it right now.
That is wonderful.
I also wore a bracelet while I waited for Lily.
It does help to bridge the gap.
Just stopped by to check out your
daily post! I hope you have a wonderful night.
Take Care,
Lori
I wear a necklace that my sister gave me for my birthday. It has the Chinese symbols for "mother" and "love". It not only helps me feel a connection to our child waiting in China, but also my beautiful mother who I just lost.
That is really sweet. What a great idea.
I need one of those too, to make me feel close. Maybe I'll need to go to that site again, she makes such beautiful things!

PS- I FINALLY got your blogged linked to mine. Just took a few months....:-)
Beautiful bracelet and beautiful sentiment. I can't wait to check out the bracelets, even though (thank God!) my wait is over I still love adoption jewerly.
What a great idea and a lovely story of your Mom's best friend thinking of you and your new baby. I must go get a bracelet. I'll find the perfect one.
I have a bracelet that I made. I wrote about it on my 12 Monthy LID-iversary.
It helps me to connect to my future and my past. I wear everyday.
Keep smilin!
Beautiful bracelet!
Beautiful...
I have been wearing a "red thread bracelet" since Christmas 2005- and have not taken it off once. The red thread is long gone from the sterling silver links, but wearing it makes me realize that the connection between Daniel and us is very real.
LOVE the bacelet!!!
I wear a necklace on a black rope with the Chinese symbol for FAITH in silver....put it on months ago and wont take it off until I have Channing in my arms!!!
