Please Keep Us In Your Prayers...My Grandmother is not doing well.

I am sorry I haven't been able to blog very much. I am in Kansas City and my Grandmother is not doing well. Her cancer has spread to her spine and she is in considerable pain. The medication for the pain makes her nautious, so she won't eat. She weighs around 83 pounds right not. Her pain medication makes her loopy, so she requires 24 hour a day care which my two aunt's have been trying to provide. We are now wondering if she needs hospitalization because we are worried about dehydration and malnutrition as she won't eat anything unless you feed it to her and even then it's next to nothing. We have a difficult time ahead of us.

Kim,
You and you family are in my thoughts. I am so sorry she is not doing very well. The hospital may help, I know it helped my father a lot when he was in the same situation. They can give her food and pain meds through an IV, once they kick in the difference is amazing.
Stay strong.
Hugs,
Sherri

So sorry to hear and will be thinking of you.

Have you considered or looked into hospice care? They can provide a lot of comfort measures in the home.

Oh, Kim, I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. She has been so important to you. Remember that it is more important to her that you celebrate her life rather than mourn your loss. I speak from experience. My own dear grandmother left us a short few years ago and I have only the best memories of her.
I will pray for you and your family.........

So sorry your Grandmother is not doing well and is in such pain.

I'm sure your Aunts are so grateful that you are there to help them, and I know that you must be so relieved that you can be there to help them and to have some time with your Grandma at this crucial time.

I will be praying for wisdom for all of you as you make decisions, and peace for your Grandma as she needs that more than anything right now.

So sorry you're going through this. Big hugs from our family to yours...

I'm sorry to hear about your Grandma. I'm in Kansas City, now, myself, as I am reading your post...it is strange and sad sitting here knowing that you and your Grandma are right here in the same city.

My grandma is really struggling, too. She is in her 90's now and has dwindled to 67 pounds (she never weighed more than 90 pounds even in the prime of life, though). The sad thing is that she has always been so sharp, but, now she is having periods of confusion and it is really upsetting to her. She is oriented enough to know that she is disoriented. It is so hard seeing our loved ones suffer and struggle as their bodies fail them. I am praying for your grandma...and for you.
