Good Morning Everyone! I noticed that the leaves have started to change here, so I thought I'd put up a fall graphic. This weekend could be pretty busy around here. I am thinking that a lot of the boats and docks will be taken out of the lake because the weather is cooling down now. We'll see. It's supposed to be quite warm today.
I think things are pretty quiet in our blog community. It looks like there will be a little miracle for Susannah, the little girl whose family went to China to bring her home and found her very ill. I am so happy for them.
Alyson and Ford are still in China bringing Alyzabeth An home. It looks like everything is going well with them.
If anyone has any news or info, please share...that's why we all come together :)
THE CHAT ROOM IS NOW CLOSED...HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND :)

G day mate!!!
Good Morning Chelley!
How are all of the kids doing?
We are ALL WELL!!! yay!!!
How are you feeling your post has me in tears
I'm hanging in there. I know that this is all just part of the process but I'm glad that last week is behind and I'm looking forward to what the next few weeks could bring.
and to say in the post before that there was nothing wrong....
You have some very wonderful friedns to be there for you!!!
Your poor little foster girls. Chewing fingers?? And that poor little angel wanting to call you mum.
Well, when I wrote the first post, we didn't know anything was wrong for certain, I just know that when we get a file to review, I kind of go into a mode where I don't really want to blog, I just kind of turn into a hermit and pray and wait for God to show us what to do.
its really pulls at the heart seen her chew her fingers.... I am ablel to get her to stop with some cuddles and a chat but its just so unfair!
SO you have been looking at files?
good morning friends. Ill be on for a short time and then I gotta go to bed for 2 hours before a football game and dinner with new adoption friends
She will relax when as she feels more stable. Unfortunately I think the family visits keep her from having the stability she needs, but I understand that she needs to hold onto those valuable relationships.
Bed isnt it morning there?
Good Morning Amy!
Amy is a nurse who works at night.
Any good baby names?
Greetings. Gas is out everywhere again. Only regular! its crazy
Wow Amy! I so admire the work that nurses do and often dont get the thanks they so rigthly dersve!
It's out...like you can't buy any???
yeah, apparently, there is still no electricity at the oil places that Ike messed and we are out!
Good Morning...Got up early to work on IEP's, but can't find the forms I need on the district website...UUUGGGHHH!!!
Wow, I haven't heard that yet. We still have regular gas here as of yesterday..but if you guys are out, it won't be long before we are too.
G day Nancy
How are you Nancy? What are IEP's?
Still overwhelmed at work, but loving every minute of it.
IEP are Individual Education Plans for children with special needs.
I had a 3 hour window to work on them before the sport craziness starts around here, but it looks like it's not gonna happen, right now anyway.
Tyler qualified for for a special class for reading and spelling when he was in elementary. It helped him a lot. Now that he is in junior high, this will be the first time he is mainstreamed in those areas, so I'm hoping he does ok.
It's so weird this year for us. Zach can drive himself to practices for hockey, so this is the first year I'm not driving him around and Tyler wants to play basketball which starts later. So, I have no one to chauffeur to sports for the first time in 12 years.
I read where parts of Ohio are still without electricity from Ike's aftermath.
He tore through here last Sunday, but we didn't lose power or get any damage.
Schools were closed here Monday due to alot of roof damages to the schools.
We got a lot of rain, but that's about it since we're so far North.
What time is it in Australia Chelley?
We didn't see a drop of rain. Just the 60+ MPH winds.
Are there more hurricanes coming or is this it for now?
Where did Amy and Chelley go? Are you there girlies?
oh im still here
Any good baby names?
Have you seen the Ladmans?
No good names and havent seen Karen and gang in a while but hopefully soon!
I just went over and read the latest post from little Susannah's Mom. I am so happy for them that their little girl will be ok. That was really something. Miracles still happen.
what is their site
wonderful news
Did her illness have anything to do with the tainted baby formula that had been found in China?
I hope those parents over there now know about this and are able to get a substitute.
Good morning! It's been a while since I've been able to join you for a chat! :)
Think I'm gonna go for a run while I wait for someone to get me forms.
Good day all!!
Kelley,
I am so happy to see you...how is Chloe?
Chloe is wonderful, thanks! She just turned 2 1/2 yesterday...and today I'm 39! Tom's off doing winter start-ups on heaters, so we're just having fun playing in the basement this morning.
Enjoy your run Nancy :)
Happy Birthday Kelley!
I don't know exactly what we're doing today. All I can think about now is getting my hands on a good cup of coffee...I hope Tim is making a pot.
I don't know what I'd do without my morning coffee!
There's a little place near our house called "Glazed and Confused." They have all sorts of unfired pottery that you can finish and then fire. I think I'm going to take Chloe today and let her make a coffee mug...we'll put her handprint on it, and then she can paint whatever she wants all around.
I hear you.
Has anyone seen any signs of a pick-up this month? Does it look like more babies are available now that the Olympics is over?
love the smell, cant drink it though
I love those places where you can paint your own pottery. I used to go quite a bit but kind of let it go. That would be a great idea to start up again and make some things for Christmas gifts.
Oh, that's right Amy. You don 't drink coffee. How do you stay awake all night at the hospital?
Happy Saturday folks!
As for a pick-up...the last thing I read on Rumor Queen was that the last batch only seemed bigger because it covered more days with less people. She was encouraged because the batch came sooner than expected. She said that if the next batch comes sometime this week, then they are speeding up their time frame, if not the number of children referred. Does that make sense?
Hey Karen!!! What up?
not sure how I stay awake. Being silly, walking around
Hi, Amy! I wanted to tell you that I rarely comment on your blog because I read through bloglines at school, but I love how you always have such a positive attitude and caring heart for others! I really enjoy your blog!
We were just talking about you Karen! How are you guys?
kelley, you are too sweet!
Karen,
I can't let Eli see Micah at Disney World...he'd go nuts. Did you guys have a great time? Do you think it was a good age for Micah to go?
We want to take Eli soon.
We had a great time at Disney. Sea World was a blast too.
Micah could have been a little older to fully enjoy it, but he got quite a bit out of the trip. He loved the rides, even the Goofy roller coaster.
Amy - I miss you! Will you be a First Friday in October? We plan to go this month.
SO glad you had a good time. Hope you guys make it to the next first friday. Its wierd not seeing you there!
Special K, I have just been to your blog to see your vacation pictures! WOW! Looks like you all had a great time! What did you like the best?
The Buzz Lightyear ride at Magic Kingdom was really fun for us and for Micah. We likes Fantasyland cuz there were so many rides you could get on without much of a line.
I like the Buzz Lightyear ride too. I won!
Poor Tim was making a pot of coffee and something was clogged and it's overflowed on the kitchen counter.
When we took Chloe this summer, she didn't care about the rides at all...well, except for Dumbo at the Magic Kingdom and Triceratop Spin at the Animal Kingdom. It was all about the characters...she ran to them like they were her best friends. We could hardly hold her back. It was so much fun! (RMJ, I don't think anyone can ever really be "too young." And kids under 3 are free!)
you are all wonderful
The boys were older when I took them, I think Tyler was 5 or 6. We'd like to take Eli soon. He will be 4 in December.
I want him to go while he still believes.
Micah was a little intimidated by the big costumed characters. He was fine with them from a distance, but didn't want to get too close.
What a fun time you guys had!
Well ladies, I am hoping that someone is going to do anohter swap soon? Anyone game?
I'd do it, but I am starting up an adoption support group at my church with Truly Blessed/Kelly so I'm maxed.
I think it's so funny how kids react so differently...Chloe is so shy around people. If you all were here, she would look at you nervously, and probably want me to hold her. If you were dressed up as Goofy, though, we'd have to peel her off of you. You'd be her best friend.
I think Chloe is so darling. Now, she is not in a 2T yet? I am starting to do some little girl shopping and I'm trying to get a feeling for what sizes I should get.
ooooh, i like organizing things like that..hmmmmmm
RMJ, don't ask me about sizes! I'd tell you to buy EVERYTHING and ANYTHING! Chloe has been a mystery to me...she's still very much in a size 18 months. In fact, the 12 month stuff has only now started to really look and feel tight. Her little overalls are size 12-18 months. When she was 9 months old, she needed somet things in size 3 months, and most things in size 6 months. Hardly anything I had was small enough. All of the clothes I got at my baby shower hung in the closet for a year until she could wear them. :)
My thoughts are simply this: buy what makes you happy. If Sophia can't wear them, you'll have fun donating them to others who can.
I haven't bought anything smaller than 12 months. Hmmm...maybe I should look at 9 months too.
oooohhh, shopping is fun as well.
Okay, I need some sleep before Michael and I head out. Hopefully he will come chat with yall while I sleep. Hes working on raising money for JUvenile Diabetes!
good night friends!
Good Night Amy, sleep well and have fun tonight.
We are having dinner with Pam and Jeff from Waiting for Julia, shes been here before
Yes, I know Pam. Have a great time you two!
Bye, Amy!
Boy, it is a quiet morning on the chat.
Hi and Goodbye friends..I'm off to Hayden's Soccer games again.....hopefully one morning I'll have a minute to talk!!!
Emily likes going to practice because when the boys do their laps around the field, she is running right behind....I think she is chasing boys at age 3, oh my I'm in trouble....I'll have to grab a photo and send it out to you!!!
I just wanted to say have a great day...ok hubby is yelling that the bus is moving out!!!!!!!!!
Everyone must be getting out and enjoying the fall weather. It's supposed to be hot here though 78 degrees today.
Have fun Carol...yes, you have to post a photo of Emily chasing the boys : )
Eli just wanted to run outside with Tim, so I put a fleece on him and sent him out.
Well Chloe is prying my fingers off of the keyboard...she's stinky and things around here need to get rolling. Have a wonderful week!!
Sorry I disappeared, I had to eat breakfast with my boys.
Have a wonderful birthday Kelley!
I miss crisp Michigan fall days where you put on a fleece to go out. I'll probably be in a sleeveless shirt by this afternoon.
That's ok Karen, it's pretty quiet on the chat today.
It looks like you guys have been having a blast.
How is Micah's pallat doing?
We ate at Arnie's the other night and we were seated at the same table that we had when we all went together.
It seems to be healing well. We see the plastic surgeon this Thursday and we'll see what he says. Hopefully he'll say that Micah won't need another surgery for a couple of years.
I love Arnies! I bet it brought back some memories to sit there. We had so much fun that night.
We did have fun. Oh yes, we definitely thought about you guys. Eli sat in that corner by where Micah sat and played some while we waited for our food.
It seemed extra quiet compared to the night when we all were there : )
So, how many surgeries do you need to repair CP or does it just depend on the individual child?
Often the palate can be closed in one surgery, though sometimes it takes two or more. That depends on the width of the cleft, how it heals and whether fistulas develop.
Micah will need another surgery to revise his lip and nose as he grows and one to do a bone graft to fill in the notch in his teeth (that will happen as his permanent teeth come in).
He is so cute. Your surgeon did a really wonderful job with the first surgery.
He just really stole our hearts. My husband and I were so taken with him.
He is just such a sweetie. He's quite a handful at times!
Some cleft affected kids need an extra surgery to change their musculature so they can close their palate for speech(p-flap surgery). We're working hard on speech in hopes of avoiding that one!
I wish that you guys lived closer. Eli needs a little guy friend to hang out with. Our neighborhood has no little ones for him to play with. He has friends at his daycare, so he gets to be social there. But I wish we had some friends nearby with a little boy. We've started to hang out with Kelly/Truly blessed a little bit and Eli loves her girls. So that is good.
I have heard that a majority of the CP kids need some sort of speech therapy, but they seem to do just fine.
Micah is in speech three times a week at the elementary school. He seems to be making progress, but it doesn't happen overnight. He's speaking much better than when you met him already, though.
Now, are you guys going to go back? How long do you have to wait before you can apply for another baby. I had heard a year, but I don't know if that holds true for SN.
We need to wait until 2010 to resend our dossier cuz that's when we will have been married five years. We'll see if we have the energy for another child as we get closer to that date.
We had not been married for 5 years when we sent in the dossier for Sophia, but it was before the rules changed.
Our 5th anniversary was last May, so we are ok now.
We talked about another child last night which really blew my mind. Tim was so set that Sophia would be the last and then just last night he said that maybe she won't be.
I know that we won't do China again. This experience has really helped us grow in so many ways, but I don't think I can do it again. We'll have to see. It really shocked me though to hear him say that. I love children, the more the merrier.
We are thinking about China, but only the SN program. There aren't too many choices out there for old fogies like us!
We both turn 40 this year. I haven't looked at what the cut-offs are for other countries. And who knows what will happening in a year. My SW told me that Russia is the fastest process right now and that the wait is 12 months, but she says it always changes depending on the politics of the country.
It is a very slow chat today. You don't have to hang around just to talk to me. If you have something to do, you can scoot.
I'm going to hang out for a while and see if the west coasters show up, but if no one comes on soon, I'll close the room.
I'm kinda in and out, playing with Micah and talking to you. I'll hang for a while.
Alright, I'm glad for the company.
Tim's trying to decide if he should pull our dock out today. A lot of our neighbors are taking their docks out today on the lake. It's easier to do when you have a big group, but I don't know if I'm ready to say that we aren't going to be out on the water anymore. It's supposed to be gorgeous this weekend.
I know, it's always sad when you take the dock out. It's like the symbolic end of summer.
Yes, and I love fall. But I really don't start to have fun with it until October when I can get all of my Halloween stuff out. I am bummed too because I totally missed the Moon Festival and I had bought some Moon Festival lanterns a couple of months back.
Moon festival snuck up on us this year. We had moon pies on the back patio. That was about it.
Yeah, I hear you.
Well my friend, I think I am going to close the chat.
Everyone must be out and about enjoying the day.
Have an awesome day. Enjoy that gorgeous fall weather.
You too!
I am so so happy for little Susannah and so grateful God has answered all of our prayers!
I would like to plant a seed for older child adoption. Maybe some of your readers would like to follow this family now in China to meet their 13 year old daughter. Now there is a leap of faith!!!

Thanks
Hi Kim,
I missed the chat today. Hubby got home last evening from Billings MT. Therefore we slept in a little before going to church.
Hope everything is well with you! The child that you are waiting for is out there. You will know when. God never fails us and will provide us with the faith that we need.
Hugs,
Jody
