Can't Keep On The Schedule...

I tell you, with this beautiful summer weather, I am really struggling to get Eli to bed on time. I get home from work and it is just warm and sunny and Eli can't wait to go outside. All he wants to do is get out and ride his Harley trike or fish or swim. I just want to get out too. This past winter was so cold and dreary and drug on forever.
Tim just got a new fishing boat, so for the past couple of nights we've gone fishing. Oh yes ladies, I love to go fishing. So, we have packed it up and went out on the fishing boat and it's been a lot of fun. Eli is a great little fisherboy and can cast his own line out. He sits and lets his feet dangle into the water, it is so cute. He caught two fish last night. He told me he no longer likes the 'white boat' which is our family boat, and only likes the fishing boat. That's fine with me I guess.
Eli's bedtime is 8:30pm. I stick to it like clockwork...except for summertime evidently. Last night it was almost 10pm when we got in and he went to bed. I have him shower with Dad before bed to get the insect repellant off and any fish smell he may have lingering. So, that's my confession...my 3 year old went to bed at 10pm.
I just love to check on him while he is sleeping. I think he is so beautiful. I know that all mother's think their sleeping children are beautiful...and they are. So, here's a photo of my boy dreaming of fishes and turtles.

Something about a sleeping child...they are even more beautiful when they are asleep! Just complete innocence on their little faces.

We don't get our little ones down until 11 p.m. The nice weather does make it harder for early bedtime! I just love summer evenings!!

Hey there, friend - schedules and summers don't mix well. We're finding that out ourselves, with AB home from teaching.

Also wanted to say thanks for dropping by the blog to read about our Ethiopia adventures. (and for the plug on your other blog). Hopefully we can help other families made this decision for their own lives, or support them through their own process.

Cute blog! Love the 7th Diamond idea...how awesome!

I'm a fishing woman too so you're not alone my friend!

Watching a little one sleep is the best.

I'm a fishing gal too. Love it!!! Your boy is so precious! I know how hard it is to keep the schedule in the summer. We've had the same problem. Have a good weekend.

Ah, he is so sweet sleeping away dreaming big dreams I'm sure. I love fishing too. It is so relaxing. We have a hard time her sleeping in the summer. It gets daylight around 3:45am and I'm not quite sure anymore when pitch dark is. The other night is was twilight at 11:30pm. I can't say it is warm though so we can really enjoy the outdoors. Right now it is just 59*.

We are off schedule over here as well. Its just too difficult to convince these little ones that its bedtime when its still light outside. Your son IS beautiful and there is nothing more precious than a sleeping child. Have a great weekend!

Ahhh...you painted such a peaceful scene! I can just imagine you all at dusk, fishing! How neat is that??!

We're off schedule too...Kiara normally goes to sleep at 8:30 also, but lately, due to taking after dinner strolls, bedtime is around 9:45!! That's my confession! ;)

Nothing more beautiful then a sleeping child. So much innocence, you just want to keep them that age. I think your a great Mom letting your son learn the importance of family... Here's to more late nights on the lake!!! Linda

You're right- summer is NOT for keeping to schedules! Eli is so lucky to be growing up on the lake... I bet Sophie will love it, too :)

Oh what a sweet picture! I struggle with the summertime bedtime too. My boys are older but I still want them to go to bed at a decent hour but then when will they catch fireflies if they do? :)
