S*quamous C*ell C*arcinoma Stage 4

My Aunt just called me and my Grandmother has been diagnosed with S*quamous C*ell C*arcinoma Stage 4. I know that this is very bad, but I don't know how bad and my Aunt was unable to ask my Grandmother's doctor because she was afraid for my Grandmother to hear what is in store. My Grandmother is 78 years old and has smoked for over 50 years. The cancer has spread throughout the lining of her lung, but not outside of the lung. They are beginning chemo on Friday but are doing no radiation. My Aunt believes they are only trying to give her additional time. She is going to set up a seperate meeting with the doctor.
But if someone has experience with this and can give me an idea of time, I would really appreciate it. I need to make plans for our family so we can be with her as much as possible.
