Welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat Group!

Good Morning Everyone! Welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat! A very windy snow storm blew through last night so everything is white this morning. We don't really have any firm weekend plans. Verna the Blogfairy and I are working together again for a new benefit we'll be rolling out in February to help the children at Starfish Foster Home. This is a little different than anything we've ever done before, so keep your eyes open for it.

Thank you to everyone who came by for the Biggest Chat Group Saturday ever! It was a great morning. The chat room is closed now.

Adele,
I love your Yall! I so wish I lived in the South. I am a Southern woman trapped in a Northerner. Paula Dean is my favorite. I love the weather and way of life. When we travel down South, the people just seem to smile more.
I will post some pictures. But really, we just had a quiet dinner and talked. We've had the same waiter for about a year now, so he knows us and jokes around with us.
Steffie and I are pretty much in the same boat. We have the same agency and very close LID's. So we know we'll being going this road together.

Adele said...

oh kelley, I love that idea. I might just have to do the same thing.
Hi Nikki. Love your blog. Have fun at your brunch!

Marla said...

Good morning! This is such a great idea!

Unknown said...

FYI, if any of you are ever near Atlanta, I hope you will let me know!

Adele said...

Oh I love Paula Dean!!! Her recipes are great. Gotta love a woman who cooks with butter and heavy cream. :)
I am a southern girl for sure. What is funny is seeing a little Chinese girl with a thick southern drawl. HAHA.

I'll let you all know how the books turn out...they are supposed to be "book store" quality. If you check out the website, they look really good there. It really seemed great to me, and that way, there's a backup in case something terrible would happen to my blog. I have learned that I need to take the biggest pictures possible, though, so that I can make them as large as I want to in the book and have the resolution be good. That was probably one of my biggest problems--I sometimes had just darling pictures that were too small, because I didn't have my camera on the right setting. (I'm a real camera dummy.) But I'm rambling...

Adele said...

Kimberley, Are you with Bethany too?? I am with Bethany and my LID is April 24, 2007.

Speaking of books, I had a book made of our journey to China (I used Shutterfly). Put in over 800 pictures and pages and pages of text. It is one of my most treasured possessions.

redmaryjanes said...

Adele,
We are very close. I am with Bethany and my LID is 2/6/07. That is really great, then I know we'll be going through this together : )

Marla said...

What a great idea! I've always wondered how those books turn out. I used Shutterfly for the first time for our Christmas cards this year.

Adele said...

I had a book made from Shutterfly also about our adoption journey. I wrote it like a story book to read to Mallory. She loves for me to read it to her.

redmaryjanes said...

I'm glad you always come too Amy! I look forward to talking to you every Saturday : )

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Kim,
How are you?

Anonymous said...

OK everyone, I nominate RMJ to put all your bloggy addresses in a nice little document so that I can load them. I just can't keep track!! They are all cool and I don't always have time to leave comments. Just love the reading. Go check out this one:

Any good weekend plans?

I hate to leave this great conversation with all of you. I need to go take some pics of the ice before it melts. Okay, I know you all are laughing right now but that's okay. :) We get excited about things like that here in Mississippi. HAHA.
I have enjoyed this. thanks for letting me join in on "YALL'S" (ha) chat this morning. I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to keep warm in sub zero temps.. I'm going to the Packer game tomorrow night and it's only supposed to be 5 degrees at the start of the game :(

Truly Blessed said...

Marla,

I am thrilled with my Shutterfly books. I've done several, but my China one is my favorite (I also wrote a story for Katie of how she came to be in our family, and love that one too). I think I'm Shutterfly's greatest customer!

I am thinking of doing a post of my China book and showing off some of the 101 pages (don't worry, it wouldn't be all of them!) -- just a sample so people can see the book.

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
Those are fabulous. I love the triplets.
Nework? That's different I must say.
Baby Love reminds me of Love's Baby Soft perfume. I loved that when I was in Junior High.

Marla said...

Thanks RMJ, he's a pill, but a precious one and I worship the ground he walks on. ;)

That sounds great, Truly Blessed! I'd love to see it!

redmaryjanes said...

Kelly,
Is Shutterfly a software program or do you send thing to them?

Laura Nipper said...

Good morning ladies. Just dropping by to say hello. I have work againg today. You have so many comments that is awesome.

Kelley said...

Kelly,

I would love to see you post pages from one of your books. Maybe I'll try Shutterfly too--I did a Creative Memories book (their new online bookmaking program) about Chloe's adoption, but that was pricey. I'd like to compare Blurb to Shutterfly.

Truly Blessed said...

Shutterfly is an online site. You upload your pictures to them and then create books, cards, calendars, mugs, etc. with your pictures.

Hey, I think people can view my book on the Shutterfly site. Let me check, and if you can, I'll post the link.

redmaryjanes said...

Are you still there Verna??

Your Starfish graphics are fantastic!

Kelley said...

Amy,
Those are some really great names! I'll bet you're always entertained. You should keep a list of them...

redmaryjanes said...

Hi there Laura,
Thanks for dropping in.
Have a great day at work!

redmaryjanes said...

Kelley,
It is really interesting the names that the babies sometimes have at the hospital Amy works at. I ask her about them every week.

Marla said...

I loved Shutterfly for our Christmas cards, it was very affordable and they got here quick. I used to print my own, but our list has grown such that printing that many was becoming a burden.

Laura Nipper said...

I have been really happy with Shutter fly as well. Never made any books. But happy with the photos I have printed with them.

I just wanted to mention for anyone here that hasn't heard about little Ayla please go to their blog http://www.2china4ayla.blogspot.com/ and leave some love and support over the next few months, Ayla is from China and is 2 and was diagnosed in Jan with a rare form of eye cancer, her family is believing for total healing. SO far it does not look like the cancer spread and it was only in her eye which we are thankful for. She is going do go through chemo for 6 months and we pray that after that she is cancer free forever.
Thanks for your support. IT really strengthens their family to see so many praying with them.
Connie

Unknown said...

some of the names really keep my laughing. I had a very interesting situate this week. I had a patient who had 2 moms, which is something I have experienced before but one mom had a full beard. The little boy Sam was named after one mom named Samantha who will become Samuel after her change..it was my first time hearing this is all my years of nursing

Leslie said...

I better get busy girls. It's been such a great time visiting with you guys, as this being my first time here.

I've bookmarked your blogs, and would love to add you to my blog roll. Would anyone have problems with me doing that?

Kelley said...

I have been reading about and praying for little Ayla every day. She is such a little beauty, and in such a loving family!

I don't mind at all, Leslie! It was great to "meet" you, and I'll be reading your blog, too. Hope to catch you here another Saturday sometime!

Kim N Jeff said...

I've actually used Shutterfly, Snapfish and Kodak Gallery... They are all just a little different but you can create some great projects on all of them.

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great weekend Leslie!

Kim N Jeff said...

Have a good weekend Leslie! Would love to have you stop by our blog :)

Leslie said...

Alya cancer is so heartbreaking. I hate that these children go through so much, and then have to face this disease. See God had his hand all over this adoption as well, because he brought her home and the way things played out. What if they didn't remove that eye??? Don't even want to think about it. I'm also praying for total healing for this beautiful little girl.

Kim N Jeff said...

Kelley - I just went over to your blog... It is so cute and your daughter is adorable :)

redmaryjanes said...

Connie,
I too have visited their blog through yours and have prayed for them. That poor little girl. But I agree with Leslie that Ayla was brought to her family in time so that this could be caught and healed.

Kelley said...

Kim,
I just went to your blog, too! I am jealous--you're going to the game tomorrow?!?!? I love the Packers, and was thrilled when the Giants beat the Cowboys!

Unknown said...

thanks so much for sharing about Ayla!

Kim N Jeff said...

Your book is amazing and I am just thru page 21! You took some awesome pictures and it looks like you all had a wonderful trip!!! Thanks for sharing...

Anonymous said...

Kim--just gotta tell you that I am covering a shift tomorrow so that our Packer Backer can watch the game and if they win, I'm taking Super Bowl Sunday too. Thought you would be the one to appreciate that!

Kim N Jeff said...

Verna you are too funny:) Didn't know that there were any Packer backers up there in MN :)

I told Kim over at Isabella that if they won we were going to pay her a visit in AZ :)

Unknown said...

Speaking of cancer, will you go pray for Tre and jenny? Exactly one year ago, they lost Miss Catie to a brain tumor and delivered their 2nd child a few days later? I posted their link on my personal blog.

Its going to be a hard day for them

Kim N Jeff said...

Kelley - I had no idea that it was going to be this cold when I agreed to going but it should be lots of fun I'm very excited! We are actually heading up there tonight and will be making a weekend out of it with some friends of ours...

Unknown said...

that game sounds like so much fun!

Marla said...

OK ladies, I guess I'd better go get ready for this party, but I will definitely join in again! Thank you for the link to precious Ayla's blog, I am bookmarking it and will certainly add her to my prayers.

Love the book too, truly blessed, thanks for sharing! You have inspired me to make one, as well.

Kim--this gal, Jo, grew up in Green Bay, I believe. Our director is also a big fan. We have Purple/Green wars. Jo wore a purple sweater one day and I gave her a hard time. I don't follow football but the hubs does.

Kelley said...

Kim, be sure to have lots of fun at the game!

Kelly, I'm on page 51 of your book...it's AWESOME!! I just saw the "cherry blossom baby"--and I remembered that I saw on one of your blogs that you were in the same group. Fun! I'm jealous of your Guangzhou "scenery" pictures...I had a whole bunch from walks that we took, but that folder on my memory card was corrupt when we got home, and I was never able to retrieve those pictures. So I have 10,000 pictures of Chloe :), but very few of China. :(

mommy24treasures said...

I will Amy. I will go to your blog and get the link.

Truly Blessed said...

Hey Kimberley,

Have you ever had over 300 posts on one of the Sat. AM chat groups? You're at 290 already, isn't that the coolest thing?

Glad everyone is enjoying the Shutterfly book. Like I said, it is one of my most treasured possessions and I'm very proud of it. Oh, the memories it contains!

Kim N Jeff said...

We did the Disney cruise about 13 years ago... It was fun back then. They had plenty of things for adults and kids to do but I hear that they have changed it quite a bit since we went...

I see you are a fellow April LIDer

Kim N Jeff said...

I'm having fun to - but I need to start getting things together for the trip up to Green Bay - Go Pack!!!

Anyone have any ideas on how to keep your feet warm!!! I've got really good boots, socks and even bought the feet warmers...

redmaryjanes said...

You still there Nancy?

Anonymous said...

At this point, she is just in the thinking process but I think she will do whatever anyone would want. With her GP passing yesterday we haven't had much time to talk AND she wants to make sure the hubs is good with it. Hoping to hear from her tomorrow. I think it would be fun for her to have some inquiries in her email when she arrives home. COuld encourage her. She seems to think she has little talent. Not so! I'm also hoping to get her up here to learn some tricks -- kind of a training session.

Kim N Jeff said...

Bye Kelly!!! I am hoping to bring home a win!!!

redmaryjanes said...

Kim,
Have a great time at the game! I have heard that the foot warmers that go in your socks really work.

Anonymous said...

Kim, I'd be buying electric socks!! It's 8 below here. Can you take a car battery with you and a heating blanket??!! oooooo. . . I'm cold thinking about it. It would take me days to warm back up. Keith says take something thick to sit on -- how about one of those ice fishing seats that holds your heat in. He is interested to see the folks in the stands on TV. Should be kind of funny to see how you all keep warm--ski masks and goggles. tee hee. Will you look like 60,000 bank robbers???

Unknown said...

there are those disposable hand warmers that you can pop and put them in your shoes..you can get them at any drug store

Kim N Jeff said...

Have a good weekend everyone.. I have to run...

Mom just called she is making homemade chex mix for us to bring up to Green Bay and it is ready to go :) YUMMY!!!

Kim N Jeff said...

Electric socks!!!! Look for me in the stands :) I'll be the one bundled up looking like a giant starfish cuz I can't put my arms down and you'll be able to hear me walking as my snowpants go swish swish swish... (I'll take pictures)

Unknown said...

Nancy,

So proud of you..I would love to be like you..I am so fluffy and have just started working out. I do the treadmill plus stairs each time i go to the gym

Unknown said...

If anyone is still here, I have a selfish prayer request.

Can you pray that they dont need me at work tonight and call me off? the roads are going to be icky and I just dont want to drive the 20 miles down there

Nancy said...

I am new at it too. I have actually not been to a gym since we lived in Maryland. It has probably been almost 4 years.

It gives me something to do during the day now while the boys are at school.

Am going to be starting a temp position, so I am not sure how I will be able to keep it up.

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
I don't think that's selfish. I don't want to be out driving in this either.

Kayce said...

RMJ...

The weather here is beautiful! But cold, not cold like where you're at, but cold!

No major weekend plans just a walk on the beach, basketball and a dump run. How about you??

I wasn't planning on having a Valentine's contest as I am going to be doing the supplyraiser, but I think we could do both if people want. I am definitely going to keep the Halloween Blog Contest as an annual event because that was so much fun.
