Today my son sent me a text message regarding having a certain 'friend' over this Saturday. You know the friend. Well, I had never sent a text message. I had to have one of the younger guys at work tell me how to do it. Let me tell you, it took me forever! I'm a good typer, forget those skills...they are useless in texting. I finally got my reply done...no I won't take any pictures of you two for my blog...no I won't stalk or cause you embarassment. Whatever. So, I did manage to get my message out, then he replied...so another stint of hunt and peck and I sent out my second message. I am picking up the friend on Saturday and her mother will be coming here to pick her up later that day. Zach is at his father's and won't be back here until Saturday. He actually offered me money to clean his room! Isn't that hilarious! Doesn't want the friend to see the messy room.

TOO FUNNY!!!!
Yes my children can text like no other... that is actually my punishment when they do something wrong or their grades are C's or below.. NO TEXTING.. I turn it off...
Can't wait to see the pictures...LOL...
Clean his room... that is funny...
soooo funny! I do text but I'm not the fastest either. I see some kids on campus who can text a whole paragraph in under a minute! CRAZY!!!
My older daughter is a really fast texter. I guess it goes with the age group. I don't like it either.
Texting, I am just learning to blog and trying to type, LOL
Pictures of the "friend" are coming right. ;D
Merry Christmas to you and your family, best wishes for the New Year.
Clean his room? Why? Why would a girl be in his bedroom?
Did you take the time to properly spell out each word or use text shorthand? U no, jst a ltr or 2 4 each word.
Yep, I had to learn how when my teenager got his first cell phone. I'm pretty good but nothing like the kids!! I don't know how he went to school before texting. He sends me several messages a day!

I have no idea how to text and to be honest... no desire to learn.
Now the part about cleaning his room...... tooooooooooo funny! Yeah, I'm thinkin' she is more than just a friend.... can we please just have ONE picture.... hehee PLEASE
After all, I talked about Hannah's Poop! Our kids should know we speak of many things. lol
P.S. I am with K-1.... She doesn't need to see his room!!!
I can't take this... Nicholas is going to be 10 on Jan. 7th. I am telling him that is it! I am freezing time... he has to stay 10!!!!!!!
Oh my goodness...all this time, I've been cleaning my kids rooms for free. lol.
I have no idea how to text by the way. Funny thing is, my dad, who lives out of state occasionally texts me, but still I've never figured out how to text him back, I just call.
Ah, the joys of teenagerdom....I'm scared.....:-)
I am the SAME way when it comes to texting...sometimes my friends will text me and I'll just CALL them back - it's quicker! hehe
Can't wait to see how everything goes on Saturday.
I've never texted (is that a word?!) Guess I'm showing my age!
That's hilarious about the room - did you take him up on his offer?!
Heh. I got THREE texts from my #2 son between 7:14 & 7:33 AM!
TAG, you're it!
I don't even have a cell phone. Those buttons are so little---no way. I have enough trouble with the pc keyboard.
I'm wondering, too. Girl---bedroom ??? WHY??? At least, you got the parental chaperone part.
Looking forward to the pictures......
Clueless. Yet, my teenagers seem to be able to text with lightning speed even when they are sleeping. : )
A ha ha! I don't care what he says - if he's that worried about what she thinks of the mess, she's a girlfriend! :D
LOL!! Texting is really hard on a "normal" phone - the ones with keypads like a computer keyboard are more ideal:)I can't wait until my sons are old enough to pay ME to clean up after them!!
cracking up that he wants to pay you to clean his room...
K1 and I actually text each other once in a while. I love texting but it's like a whole new world. Even my folks text me sometimes. LOL. We are a techie family. I'm still blown away that you can take a picture or video and send it to someone else's phone. technology is amazing!
Ohhhhhhh...good luck girl....you r fun is about to begin! I've BTDT.....better buckle up!
Hugs....see you soon. And we are for sure doing Yen Chings for CNY!
It feels that its the only way the "kids" will talk to me now!
Happy Holidays!

I know! My 15 yr old wants to text me sometimes too and I want to be the cool mom and try but its SOOO hard. He has a phone that has an entire kepypad so he types me long messages. It takes so much time and I am usually in the middle of doing something.
Oh RMJ -- thanks for the morning laugh!!!! :) You are just precious. I guess when it comes to technology, there's definitely a generation gap. I do text (it's easier than a phone call for short messages), but I will admit it takes my full attention. No lightning speed texting for me!
Two comments on your previous post about your son and his 'friend' - 1) I agree that you made the right decision. Too much room for temptation with the two of them alone. 2) Yes, "just talking" is a phase of the process. I cracked up when someone asked if "just talking" was a phase and what that meant!!
Merry Christmas!!!!
I have recently learned to text but I sure am not very fast - I type reasonably well on the computer but on a cellphone? That's a challenge!
I could faster drive to the location then text.I am amazed when you watch these kids text. But then they have all these strange words for other words.
Like we never did any strange things when we were young.Heck I had manual and a few electric type writters when I was in high school, no computers.
Yes I know i am old graduated in "78", puts me at 48,just so no one has to run for a calculator.
LOLOL!!!!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mr.Brian
I want texting soooooo bad! I hope to get it for Christmas, glad you finally figured it out!
I hate texting... I am proud of ya that you done it... I can never figure it out... lol
Merry Christmas RMJ. I had texting turned off on our cell phones. I don't even know how! Guess I've got a lot to learn before becoming a mom!!
