Renewing Our Homestudy...

Our LID is Feb. 6th '07. Our social worker let us know that it is time to start re-doing our paperwork. We have to have new police clearances done, we have to be re-fingerprinted, we have to have the people who did our reference letters sign a document stating that they still stand behind what they said about us and we have to re-do everyone's medical forms. We also had to submit last year's w-2's and our tax statements.
The only ray of sunshine is that nothing has to be notarized and we don't have to pay for the new fingerprints.
For those of you with LID's close to ours, you may want to contact your SW and begin renewing your paperwork (if you live in the US).

We love you Sophia. We'll do whatever we need to do to bring you home : )

Kim,

This is such a pain. I remember re-doing ours. It is a bit of a downer. I am sorry.

I am not sure I knew that you were naming your daughter Sophia. That is so beautiful!

I put Kate in the Mei Tai yesterday...she still gets excited when she sees it and I thought of you. Someday (hopefully soon) you will be putting Sophia in it.

I am sure I will be done with it in a few months and I will get your address and send it to you.

Hugs,
Kim

I don't know why that posted as anonymous. You know it is me right?

Hi Kim
We are lid 10/27/06 and haven't begun anything yet - our agency said to start December 07 - allowing 2 months before expiration of the I171H which expires 2/08. It seems early to re-do for you. Is it different by State?

She will be here before you know it...
I know this is going to be a long wait... but we are having fun in the meantime..
We will have to do ours soon...
Hugs Girly...

You are so strong! I would love to be a reference for you, do they take blog-friends?

Sophia is a lucky little girl.

That seems REALLY early to be re-doing everything. Our social worker said that you don't need to renew the homestudy until you file again for your new I171H and those are good for 18 months. When does yours expire? You should keep your fingerprints up-to-date until you clear the review room, but that's it.
I would HIGHLY suggest you call your agency or check with another social worker. (((Hugs)))

Your a great Mom. I know it stinks to have to do this paperwork all over but trust me it will seem trivial when you finally get to hold your daughter and whisper that you love her for the first time. :)

We were so lucky that all we had to re-do was our medical. Nothing else had to be re-done. What a total pain in the butt. Big hugs honey.

We just had our HS visit this morning and my SW is sending me a packet with everything that I need to do BESIDES what I've already re-done and gace to her today.

We're in the same boat! We had our HS updated (our SW requires visits every 6 months). Only thing I need to do now is the 600-A. Thanks for the reminder :-)

Good luck, it's all worth it in the end.

Stinks huh? But in the end it will be worth it. I am debating whether or not to even do a renewal since the time is so long now. My SW said either way is ok. Not sure it has been on my mind.
