Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat Group!!

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome! We survived the night. The boys were really easy to look after. We fed them all pizza for dinner and they played football outside until around 10:30pm. We called them in once around 7:30pm for cake and ice cream and then they were back outside for football. After 10:30pm I made a bunch of popcorn and they came in to watch movies. This was the easiest children's party I have ever thrown. They are all still sleeping downstairs, so I'm going to blog from my room this morning : ). I can't get to the coffee though.
Please jump into the comments and join in. I'm looking forward to this morning's chat group because lasts weeks was cancelled. Eli had the croup and had to go to the pediatrician.
If you leave a comment and I don't answer right away, I may be called out to make some toast or looking at blogs. I'll be right back in a few minutes, so please hang tight.

I also believe that today is Noemi's birthday. Her blog is 'Living the Florida Life', drop by and send a birthday wish her way today.

Chat room is closed. Thank you for a wonderful morning.

Good morning Kimberley!

I don't have tons of time, as I've got to get to T's football game (AND I think I'm supposed to bring quartered oranges for 1/2 time, so I might need to run to the store!).

Wanted to say top o'the day to you and your chat group this AM.

I posted a LONG post this morning on my blog...in it, I revealed something interesting...

redmaryjanes said...

Truly Blessed,
I'll head over there and read what you've posted!
Good Morning to you too! I am taking all these boys back around noon and then we have a hockey game in Kzoo at 6:30pm tonight.

Unknown said...

Good morning guys. Glad you had fun. Michael and I are leaving for the apple festival soon

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
That sounds like so much fun! We're going to the pumpkin patch tomorrow.

Unknown said...

It has really turned fall here in Atlanta. It was cold this morning

redmaryjanes said...

It got cool here too. The weather here is so strange with the seasons. One day it will be 90 and the next 60.

Truly Blessed said...

Glad you survived the sleepover. That many 12 year olds for that long -- you're a brave woman!

Next weekend, I've got my two nieces while my boys go to their house (we're swapping girls for boys!).

Still not sure what I'm going to do with them all weekend...any ideas anyone?

They're 11 & 8 AND I'll have Katie.

Steffie B. said...

Good morning girls.....hope everyone has a great weekend. I may pop in and out as the Things allow! ;)
Hugs....
S*

redmaryjanes said...

Are you guys considering SN?

redmaryjanes said...

Kelly,
What fun! They may enjoy the day at a pumpkin patch. Or maybe some shopping, but Katie would probably be bored with the shopping. Hmm...let me think.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Stef~
What are you guys doing this weekend?

Unknown said...

the apple festival has apples obviously, tons of crafts and gifts you can find there and carnival food and some wildlife on display. Hoping to find something for one of my secret pals

Unknown said...

yeah the sleepover sounds so fun. I cant wait to do things like that.

Hope to get to the pumpkin patch today or tomorrow

redmaryjanes said...

I've got to get shopping again for my secret pal. I bought September and October's gifts at the same time, so I was covered for a while.

jennifer said...

Hi all...Kimberly, I am so glad the party went well. It definitely helps when they can stay outside. Anyone hunting this weekend?

Unknown said...

Id love to keep my niece for a few days. Id love to have a little girl to take to tea or go window shopping or maybe go to one of those places where you make your own pottery

redmaryjanes said...

We have a blended family, my oldest two boys are from my first marriage and my daughter Kate is from my husband's first marriage. All of them are here this weekend, so it's the perfect time to get out and get our pumpkins and carve them together.

Unknown said...

That really sounds like fun. Im going to post about a Christmas Card exchange on my adoption and regular blog this week!!

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Jennifer!
It's bow hunting season right? My husband only hunts during gun season. My son Tyler just got a bow though and wants to learn. My BIL is a big bow hunter and is coming up from Florida during gun season, and hopefully can spend some time with Tyler.
So, we have no hunters going out this weekend, but next month, my FIL, BIL, hubs, 2 sons and daughter Kate are all going out for opening day.

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
That's cool, I'll sign up for Christmas card exchange.

Unknown said...

My uncle hunts. I have never had an interest but the idea of being quiet out in nature does sound good

jennifer said...

Richard was in the woods yesterday. Coming home today, but leaving again tomorrow. Sounds more like widdow season to me.

redmaryjanes said...

Well,
I know that they are supposed to be quiet, but I don't know how it's going to work with our group. There are so many of them going out here together.

redmaryjanes said...

Jennifer,
I guess it kind of of is widow season. I kind of enjoy a couple of days to myself to get things together for the holidays. And I am a city girl, but I do like venison. I've learned how to cook it, we had a venison roast last Sunday and it was fantastic.

redmaryjanes said...

I have to clear off my patio this weekend and put all of my planters in the garage. Fall is really here now.

jennifer said...

Richard always gets this great sausage made with some of the meat. It is really good. We cook some roasts too, but I don't like it when it's ground meat. Did hockey just start?

redmaryjanes said...

Hockey started in September. We have a game tonight and another one tomorrow afternoon. I'm excited to see how they do. This is Zach's first year playing on a high school team.

I get the venison burger and use it for spaghetti sauce and taco meat.

Unknown said...

I dont think I have ever had venison!!! Sounds good, also sounds like you guys get some quiet time during hunting season

Unknown said...

So where is everone from? I assume some of you are up north because of the hockey

jennifer said...

Hockey is one thing you can't do in S. Louisiana. High school team is big stuff. I know you are proud. We should be gearing up for basketball, but we've decided to sit this season out. We always have a HUGE baseball season, so it will be nice to have a break between football and baseball.

redmaryjanes said...

I get up really early with everyone to make coffee and make sure they get something decent to eat. I pack them some food and then send them off. I go back to bed and the rest of day is quiet until they come home at dark.

Unknown said...

Sounds fun for all of you

redmaryjanes said...

I would love for one of the boys to play football, but Zach has played hockey since he was 5 years old. Tyler tried football one year, then was off to play soccer, now he's playing tennis. He hasn't found his true sport yet. Eli is built to play football, so we'll see where his interests take him.
I love watching the kids play though. There is a football field near us where the little kids practice, they are so cute in all of the pads.

redmaryjanes said...

When is your LID Amy?

Unknown said...

I cant wait for all of that!!

jennifer said...

Amy, we live in Denham Springs, LA. It is right next to Baton Rouge. Richard usually doesn't take ALL of them at the same time, so I am never really alone.

Unknown said...

Ok guys, Michael came down and we are off to the Apple Festival

Unknown said...

See ya next weekend!

redmaryjanes said...

Have fun Amy.

redmaryjanes said...

Isn't that the truth?? I always have Eli too. It's all good.

jennifer said...

Football is a new thing for us this year. It has been fun, but I can't say I'm overly comfortable with all the hits. Cade has laid a couple of boys out this year, and got hit really hard in the last game. You have to question yourself when you're on the sidlines screaming "Hit Him!!"

Mr.Brian said...

Just a quick good morning and thanks for the birthday greeting.I had a great day a nice quiet evening at home.I could tell I was a year older,I was painful so I had to get out the iceyhot.LOLO
Have a wonderful weekend my dear friend. You are the greatest.
Now I will let all you young chicks have fun while this old rooster goes out to get breakfast,my Saturday treat.

redmaryjanes said...

Have a wonderful breakfast Mr. Brian. I'm glad you had a nice birthday! Take it easy on the icy hot.

~Amy~ said...

Wow this is so neat that you have this! :) I hope you have a good day and I'm glad the sleepover went good. We are having a 4 year old birthday party here today...Cars themed and everything! ;)

redmaryjanes said...

Jennifer,
I know what you are talking about. Zach played defense for the last two years, so I'd be yelling 'get him'! all the time. Contact sports are a different world. I don't know if it's a 'guy thing'. They seem to be able to shake if off. I've seen some broken bones though. A boy on Zach's team last year broke his collar bone.

redmaryjanes said...

That's cool Amy. Eli (our 2 year old) loves Cars! Have fun.

Mom 2 six said...

Hello everyone !
We are planning our day to the pumpkin farm -looks like other are too. I have to ask where you get all the great clip art?
Shelly

jennifer said...

People magazine had an article about concussions and how harmful they are. It's a little scary, but you can't keep them in a padded room. It wouldn't work anyway.

jennifer said...

Good question Shelly, I have been wanting to know that as well.

redmaryjanes said...

Shelly,
I find the clip art all over. My space has a graphics page where they have all sorts of things you can put on your blog and then there are chat groups everywhere and groups that make and share things. I am always looking for new stuff. Feel free to take anything you like, I love seeing who likes what pictures.

Somewhere In The Sun said...

Hi! This is my first time at the chat. I'm usually out early on Saturday's for Joe's baseball game but today it's not unil noon. Glad you survived the party.

redmaryjanes said...

Zachary fell on the playground in 6th grade and hit his head and had a concussion. It was scarey. He had to have an MRI and I couldn't go into the room with him. I just stood and cried out in the hall. He was vomiting and everything. It was awful. It turned out ok, but it was really scarey for me.

jennifer said...

That is what I've found this year, they are going to get hurt, but most of the time, it's on the playground or in the backyard, not necessarily on the football field.

jennifer said...

I hope you really don't mind us stealing your stuff! I took that one quote because I just couldn't live without it, but I hate to steal your work!

redmaryjanes said...

This is a great site that I like, some of the stuff isn't very appropriate, so you have to sort through it, but there are a lot of cute graphics.

www.zingerbug.com
It's my space's free graphics site.
Also, a lot of times if you look at my graphic, you can see where I got it listed on it.

redmaryjanes said...

I love seeing things on other people's blogs. I think it's great. So, take whatever you want. I love it when I see that quote on your blog, it lets me know that I put something out there that meant something to you.

Mom 2 six said...

I may borrow a few items thanks for the offer. Concussions are scary. BTDT unfortunately. Glad things are alright. That's the hardest part of parenting for me -now being able to protect them 24/7-I'd take on any illness for them.

jennifer said...

My mom has always been a huge worrier. They were always very protective, but it drove us crazy! There are risks with everything. They wouldn't let us ride 4 wheelers (not that it stopped me), but I ended up breaking my arm in PE! I have refused to be the worrier that she is, it doesn't do any good!

Somewhere In The Sun said...

Ben was excited to see your header. Glad you got the diamonds to work.

Thanks for that site address. I'll have to check it out.

redmaryjanes said...

I would love to see a bunch of Halloween blogs out there, so please take some graphics. I'm trying to post a ton of them for everyone, but I'm not seeing many of them out there.

redmaryjanes said...

That is the coolest header ever. I'm so glad that it works. Tell him he did a great job and I look forward to whatever he comes up with next. Let me know when he wants his check.
I think it looks fabulous.

Somewhere In The Sun said...

I'd like to add some Halloween pics to my blog but my problem is that when I add a graphic to the side it gets distorted. I don't know how to fix it.

redmaryjanes said...

Jennifer,
4 wheelers scare me too. I am a total worrier Mom. Eli has a scar on his cheek and I am constantly putting Mederma and liquid vitamin e on it. I can't bear for him to have a scar.
None of the boys have been hurt playing sports. Tyler is a real daredevil though. I'm keeping an eye on him.

redmaryjanes said...

I can only put smaller graphics on my sidebar or they distort too. I put the larger ones as a post and the smaller ones on the side.

Mom 2 six said...

The kids are restless and now hungry. Then we are heading out to get pumpkins. I will post pictures and some cool clip art later. :)
Have a great day everyone.

Somewhere In The Sun said...

Ben has multiple scars on his stomach from surgery. He tells people it was a cougar attack! :)

redmaryjanes said...

Have fun at the pumpkin patch Shelly. I'll drop by later to see the pictures.

redmaryjanes said...

That is hilarious! A cougar attack. I have a friend who is a twin and he was on a quad and went through a barbed wire fence. He has a scar from it all the way around his waist. He tells people he and his brother were siamese twins and that's where they were seperated.

jennifer said...

Well, Richard just called and is about 5 minutes from home! He wasn't supposed to be home until noon, so that is a good surprise. We've got to go figure a few things out for the new house (like where to find a few thousand bricks that match the ones already there!). Thanks for hosting the chat, Kimberly. I wish we lived closer.

redmaryjanes said...

I wish you lived closer too. Our families have a lot in common. I thought that they found some brick out of state.
I hope it works out. Have a great day!

Somewhere In The Sun said...

This is off the subject but we watched Evan Almighty last night. Has anyone seen it? I laughed so hard I was crying.

redmaryjanes said...

commentyou.com also has some good graphics. Lots of trashy ones you have to sort through, but some good ones too.

redmaryjanes said...

I haven't seen it yet. It's good?

jennifer said...

They did, it came all the way from NC. Guess what, it doesn't match!! I don't know what we're going to do.

Have a great day!!

Somewhere In The Sun said...

I loved it. Great for the kids too. They didn't get some of the really funny things but they wanted to watch it agian.

Somewhere In The Sun said...

Well, I have to run and get in the shower. I'll drop by next week. Thanks for hosting this!

jennifer said...

OK, one more comment.... Evan Almighty was SO funny. We LOVED it. I can't wait to buy it. Definitely worth seeing and the kids will love it!!

OK, I'm really going now!

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great weekend ladies!

Rhonda said...

BOO!

redmaryjanes said...

Hey Rhonda!
How's the house coming?

Rhonda said...

It's still slowly coming together...or coming apart, depends on your perspective. ;)

redmaryjanes said...

I'm sure it's look wonderful. So, what day exactly last week was Canadian Thanksgiving? I didn't know that Canada had a Thanksgiving. Show's you how backwards I am.

Rhonda said...

Our Thanksgiving was last Monday (same day as Columbus Day in the States).

We've still got about another 25 (or so) boxes to unpack...and our housewarming party is just under a month away. ;)

redmaryjanes said...

Oh man, you have a lot to do. It's cool though when all of your things come out and you see the house evolve into something that is completely yours.

Rhonda said...

Yeah, it's slowly coming together. We're going out shopping soon to buy more furniture...shhh, don't tell my hubby. ;)

We've invited 48 people to our housewarming...it should be interesting. ;)

redmaryjanes said...

That's a big crowd, but manageable. If it's an open house they can just drift in and out. I'm happy for you guys. A new house is the best feeling.

mommy24treasures said...

wow, you all are chatting away, I just wanted to say good morning to all, we are off to pumpkin patch fun have a great Saturday!

Rhonda said...

It's a great feeling knowing that it's *ours*.

We still haven't met our neighbours, except the guy who lives two doors down...I pet his dog. That's about the extent of it. ;)

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great time at the pumpkin patch! We are going tomorrow.

redmaryjanes said...

Rhonda,
I can't wait to hear about these neighbors! Hopefully they will be completely normal, but I'd love to hear some stories about some freaky ones.

Rhonda said...

As soon as I meet these freaks, err, sane, rational people I'll let you know. ;)

Hopefully none of them compare to the perfumed pig or chicken hat guy...

redmaryjanes said...

Yes, those are definitely classics. I've lived here for so long that even the strange neighbors have become endearing. Now, the nosy, controlling, dog hater woman down the road is another story...not endearing. But for the most part, we have it good.

redmaryjanes said...

I'm having a great morning. I just got my first cup of coffee. My 12 year old's friends are all outside playing football and it's good when all of the kids are here. We were both married before, so we don't always have the kids here on the weekends.

Truly Blessed said...

Hey all,

Back from T's football game -- THEY WON!!! It's been a long, hard season, and this is their first win. Woo Hoo!

The pumpkin patch idea sounds fun for the girls next weekend. I know that Klackle Orchards up in Greenville has some really fun things on weekends (years ago we went and there were both pony rides AND an elephant ride) plus corn mazes, crafts, etc.

Any other ideas?

redmaryjanes said...

I'm so glad that they won!
Way to go!!
I'm drinking some coffee and chatting with Tim.
He's catching a bit of a cold.

redmaryjanes said...

Klackle is a great orchard. I think we're going to a small one up near Sheridan tomorrow. My husbands Grandparent's live up there. I'm trying to think of something else you can do with the girls.

Truly Blessed said...

Poor Tim. Colds are no fun.

Will we see you at Church tomorrow?

redmaryjanes said...

Yes, we will definitely be at church tomorrow and Zach will be at youth group tomorrow night.

Truly Blessed said...

Thanks. My neices are so sweet, so I'd like do do something out of the ordinary with them. Their parents are great people, but C H E A P !!

I don't think the girls have ever done anything wild and crazy or that cost $$. Seriously.

I honestly thought about taking them to Chicago for the weekend. I would love to take them to American Girl Place, but I don't want to buy them $100 dolls and get them hooked on something their parents will NEVER buy into.

Truly Blessed said...

Last year I took them Christmas shopping to get ideas of what to buy for them.

I took them out to lunch and the poor kids didn't know what to do with all the choices. They asked if they had to split something, and I told them "no," they could each get their own meal. They also ordered water and I suggested they get a pop, but each said that water was fine.

Later in the meal, both of them looked whistfully at my Diet Coke and said, "I wish I'd ordered pop."

They nearly fell off the chair when I told them they could order dessert!

The sad thing is, their Dad is LOADED. He's just a miser.

redmaryjanes said...

Going to the American Girl Place is my dream. I cannot wait to take my girl there.
I have heard that there is a little girl tea party place where they let them dress up and such, but I'm not sure what it's called or where it is.
How about Build A Bear? They may like that and it's not too expensive?

redmaryjanes said...

Oh, that's too bad. You know what? Go ahead and do what you want. Those girls need a wonderfully Auntie who makes dreams come true.
My kids also like the mud room. It's a place where you can paint pottery dishes and such. They think it's a blast.

Truly Blessed said...

Oh, I LOVE the idea of the Mud Room.

I'm pretty sure they've never done that, and they could make something for someone special for Christmas if they want (or something just for themselves if they want).

GREAT idea!

redmaryjanes said...

My kids always have loved it there. Me too, I have a great time painting. We should meet there with our group of ladies one night and each bring some type of appetizer or something. I think we'd have a great time.

Kim said...

Good Morning Everyone...
I guess I wasn't thinking ..
the first Sat. I am off and we finally got our big door in.. and they are installing it
They had measured wrong ..so when they came to put in the windows they had the wrong door..

Lisa said...

Good morning everyone! We had a slumber party last nite too for 13 yr old boys. We only had 5. Our kids were out of school yesterday so we went to the pumpkin patch. My 16 yr old even went and spent some quality time with little sister. She loves her big brothers.
Our crew went ice skating last nite and back to the house for a weiner roast and camping in the backyard. I just got through making a big breakfast and now I have to clean up!
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Gotta catch up on my blog later.

Kim said...

Glad to hear that you made it though last night..
Sounds like it was really easy..

redmaryjanes said...

Goodmorning Kim!
Can they put the old door back on?

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Lisa!
Your slumber party sounds really cool! A campout would be the best. Is it cold where you are?

redmaryjanes said...

I'm sorry ladies, but I have to leave the chat room a little early today to get these boys back to their parents. I will post some great laughs for you to look at in my absence! Have a great weekend.

Lisa said...

Hi RMJ,
It was in the low 40's last nite so it was perfect for a campfire. It is the 60's here now. They fired the fire back up this morning to roast more marshmallows after breakfast. I have to say I was worried about having things broken, but they are a great bunch of kids! All very well behaved.

Laura Nipper said...

Good morning. WE just wake up and it raining this morning. So glad your sons party is going to well.
