Eli Update...

We were able to get into our pediatrician's office this morning. Eli has the croop. Don't know if I'm spelling that right. They said that their office has been flooded with cases of it this week. He had to have a shot to help open up his airway and we need to run vaporizers in his room and try to keep the air in there as cool as possible. We also got some saline so that we can give him breathing treatments if necessary. He seems pretty comfortable and behaving quite normally. We just put him down for a nap. Thank you all for your concern.

Our second daughter had croup a lot. It sounds awful and it is so scary! If he gets really croupy, dress him warmly and take him outside into the cool night air. It really does help. Hope he's over it soon!

Hope he gets better fast with the medicine. I hate it when the little ones can't breath. Scary.

The croup, isn't that the one where you put them in the steamy hot bathroom (w/hot shower running) and then you take them out into the cold outside? I'm pretty sure that's what the doc told us to do with ours (years ago now), when they had it.

Loving the lil Levis... ;)

Love that little foot over the knee!

FYI... don't know if the Ped. told you this or not, but Croup is just a symptom of a cold or upper respitory thing it is not catchy in and of itself. You can catch the cold not the croup.

Some kids just have smaller airways and have a harder time when their throats are inflammed from an illness. Be prepared that he will be prone to croup every time he gets sick, until he is 'big' enough and outgrows it.

Whenever I used to hear kids cough that croupy cough I would think, "What awful parents, that kid should be at home!" Then Chris had it and I realized that it was just because his airway was smaller. He was no sicker than any other kid with a cold. Once he started Kindergarden he outgrew it.

The hardest time is at night, they seem to have more trouble when they are trying to sleep... many nights with the shower running and vicks in the vaporizor...Many days laying on the couch watching Little Bear... ahhh...

Oh Kim...My oldest (Will) gets croup every single year right around this time. He has it now. He is 10 and I keep thinking he'll out grow it. The humidifier really helps. Hope he gets some sleep and you too:)
