Welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat Group!

Good Morning! I look forward to talking with everyone this morning. It's our family's last Saturday before the school year starts. Goodbye Summer Vacation! My father-in-law is coming to spend the weekend with us. It's our first time seeing him since the funeral, so we are looking forward to spending some happier time together. There should be a lot of boating, fishing and good food this weekend. I have been baking banana bread and cookies.

Ok, it seems really quiet now, so I'm closing the chat group at 11:30am today. I hope you all have a fabulous Labor Day Weekend!

Have a great day.....I don't really have time to chat this morning......hope you have a great weekend with you FIL! And make sure to take some pics of the new table! ;)

redmaryjanes said...

You have a great weekend too girl. I will take some photos and post them. You're the best Steffie, you really are.

Nancy said...

Good Morning RMJ. No plans here this weekend out of the ordinary. We are making waffles however for breakfast.

Good Morning to you to Steffie!

Ann said...

Geesh, it's so early, what time do you actually get up. I thought we were doing good up this early.

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Nancy! How are ya? I'd love a waffle, I have to get some coffee going.

redmaryjanes said...

I get up whenever my 2 year old Eli gets up. Today it was 6:55am. How are you Ann? Aren't you about to go on vaca?

Ann said...

yes we just can't leave too early or we won't be able to check in..we did think about stalking the condo til they let us in though.

Good morning by the way

Nancy said...

Where are you going on vacation, Ann?

redmaryjanes said...

I'd definitely be a stalker. I would love to be somewhere tropical. But that's done now for a while. School starts this Tuesday.

Noemi said...

Good Morning RMJ!. We are off to the Mall to get my niece her Birthday present for the Big Bash Tomorrow... The boys want to get her a bear at Build A Bear,

Hope you have a good time with your FIL this weekend.

I try to sleep late but my little Mickey is like Eli very early morning kids! LOL

Ann said...

we're just heading over to the gulf side of florida, Destin. white beaches and clear water, and hopefully some sun

We're celebrating our anniversary a week early

my nephews started school two weeks ago, it always seemed kinda early to me though

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Noemi. I hope you guys have a great weekend. Build a Bear is great fun. Your niece will love it.

Yeah, I guess we're the early birds huh?? What can you do? Do girls sleep in?

redmaryjanes said...

Ann,
My sister-in-law lives in Panama City, we go visit for Spring Break every year. I've heard it's close to Destin. Happy Anniversary. You guys are adopting from Vietnam right?

redmaryjanes said...

ANY MUSIC REQUESTS?
I need to put a new song on today.

Ann said...

taiwan...with a neverending wait

I think the program that we're in(where the birthmother chooses the family) is pretty close in wait times to the China wait now. I think it's going to be at least 24 months.

redmaryjanes said...

Ann,
I hadn't heard of Taiwan being open. How long have you guys been waiting so far? So, it's a lot like here in the US with the birthmother going through books and picking a family? I would think you guys would be picked quickly. You are a beautiful couple. Handsome hubs you've got there girl!

Ann said...

Yeah it's been open, but it was/is still a smaller program. It WAS a very well kept secret with wait times going very quickly before. BUT the secret is out and the program got inundated(sp?) and is now backlogged. Yes, it's very much like a domestic adoption, we had to do the whole birthmother letter/album thing. And hopefully we'll be able to meet her and have pictures for later when questions arise. We are just about to hit the 18 month mark.

What is China's wait looking like now

Dannye said...

morning, just dropping in for a quick hello before I am off to get my nails done..

Nancy said...

I love Florida. My husband and I have taken the boys twice, and stayed on grounds at Disney. Two summers ago, I took the boys with my Dad and we did alot of the thing we usually don't when we go to Disney.
We went to Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, Universal, etc.

I especially like going to the beach. Which brings me to a question?
I use to be alot braver BC. Now I have no bravery left. Use to go way out in the ocean, with no fear. Now there are many things I would never do. I am not sure if it is age, or concern for the boys.
Anyone else like that?

Ann said...

you'll appreciate this...this is the first time we're leaving our puppy(whose's now two)
He's never been without us and we're kinda nervous about it

Thor is getting soooo big and gorgeous!

Nancy said...

Ann, I got a call recently from our agency that said the wait could pass 3 years.

redmaryjanes said...

Hey Dannye!!
I got three bibs in the mail from one of my ladies this week. I love these swaps.
How are you doing your nails? Any cool design?

Dannye said...

wow, Nancy, may I ask what agency you are with???

redmaryjanes said...

Our agency is still being really conservative. They are saying up to 24 months now. We've been waiting only 6. I wonder if the longer wait times are for people who are just getting their paperwork in though.

Unknown said...

GOod morning yall! Im up this morning blogging and emailing before I take my nap and go to work tonight. we have friends who attend our monthly adoption support group who are adopting from Taiwan. We went to ther fundraiser a couple of months ago

Dannye said...

RMJ, not sure what colors, etc I am doing this 3 week period...I was kinda thinking red, white, blue, for Labor Day, but I may just leave it up to my nail tech, make it her choice...

Dannye said...

morning Amy!!

Dannye said...

our agency doesn't guess the waiting period, they just tell you what the current wait is, and that it may continue to lengthen

Nancy said...

We are through Adoption Associates out of Michigan. There is a smaller branch near us in Indiana too.

Ann said...

all right all. Jon is yelling at me to get off the computer and pack. So I've got to go...

Everyone have a great safe weekend!!!

Sophie's Mom said...

Good morning everyone! Beautiful day up here in Maine.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Amy. I didn't know that you are working nights. What do you do?

Nancy said...

My youngest (1st grade) has to do a transportation project with three facts. They recommend using the internet -which I don't agree with.
We are considering doing horses. I thought maybe today we could visit an Amish community to get him some first hand information.
Any idea how I could find one?

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye,
You'll have to post a picture of your nails. So, you had a blast at your adopting moms gathering?

Nancy said...

Sophie's Mom - I LOVE that picture of Sophie with her Dad!
Too Precious.

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day Ann!

Unknown said...

I am a pediatric nurse at one of the top childrens hospital. I love it. I work on a neuro/craniofacial floor. I get the chance to work with a lot of Chinese babies!

redmaryjanes said...

Hey there Sophie's Mom! I would love to visit Maine. I hear it's really beautiful up there.

Dannye said...

yes RMJ it was loads of fun, quite the success...thanks for your ideas re gifts for the goodie bags for the older children...big hit

one of the other ladies is planning another get together in October in Kissimmee...some people are flying in for that one...how cool is that?? looks like I may have started something...hehehe

Dannye said...

amy, why do you get to work with lots of Chinese babies?? CL/CP children???

Unknown said...

Oh I would love to revisit Maine. We went late Sept a few years ago. it was awesome!!

Sophie's Mom said...

Thanks! (picture) It's one of my faves.

Up here in Maine all students grade 7 and up are assigned a laptop at school, to do most work on. In the classroom they're connected to the internet, and are expected to do research and homework on it. It almost makes for a paperless classroom!

Means I don't have to buy hardly anything for school supplies this year!

Ah the life of a student these days...

redmaryjanes said...

Nancy,
The amish are pretty reclusive out here. Sometimes we are able to see them selling baked goods in the rural areas around our home.
There is a horse boarding stable down the road from us. Maybe a place like that could help.

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye,
I think it's awesome. I tell you, by the time this wait is over we're all going to know each other so well that we'll be friends for life and it will be so good for our daughters.

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
Do you work with children having cleft pallat repair?

Unknown said...

Yes, a lot of CL/CP babies along with other special needs like facial deformities and issues. Its been such a wonderful blessing. I have met some wonderful families

redmaryjanes said...

That must be so rewarding.

Dannye said...

RMJ, I already feel that bond with quite a few of ya'll...definitely a friendship to last a lifetime...and to think we've never really met, but I just know that when we do, it'd be just like we've known each other forever...

Dannye said...

Sofie's Mom...I agree, school is so much more different now than when I went (and it wasn't that long ago I was in school...I mean I graduated in '91...okay maybe it's been a little while, but it doesn't feel like it....hehe)...

Dannye said...

wow, Amy, what a blessing to get to meet adoptive families like that...it's funny how that red thread works isn't it???

Unknown said...

Its funny. 2 years ago Michael and I prayed for a new group of friends and who would have thought they would have through adoption!! Its been amazing. I wouldnt trade this wait (perhaps making it shorter) for anything

Dannye said...

so anyone have any special plans for the Labor Day weekend??

Sophie's Mom said...

Nothing planned for us, just getting things ready for the kiddos to start school Tuesday.

Organizing new school clothes, packing backpacks... fun! ;)

Dannye said...

everytime I get really sad/depressed about this wait, I just remember what all the other BTDT families keep saying...if the wait had been anything different than what it is then I wouldn't have had the perfect child for our family that I had been given...so I guess the wait means that our daughter just isn't ready for us yet....

Dannye said...

now mind you this doesn't always work to cheer myself up, but hey, guess it's pretty true...only time will tell...

redmaryjanes said...

I agree Dannye,
Plus I'm still learning so much about what to expect and how to help our child. With each family that I watch come home, I hear about a different behavior or situation that will may help us out when we go to get our Sophia.

Unknown said...

I am not sure I have ever done anything for Labor Day weekend..haha! Im working tonight and Monday and have Sunday off!

Nancy said...

We were given the option to switch, etc., but in our hearts know our daughter is in China. If we change anything, our daughter will be raised in an orphanage.
We are waiting until she is ready for us, and not the opposite.

Hopefully the agency is wrong.

redmaryjanes said...

Nancy,
We feel that way too. We just know that she is there. We'll wait it out. It took my friend over 2 years to conceive her first child. Her total process was almost 3 years. I compare this wait to what she went through. We compare our situation for a 9 month gestation, but most times it takes almost a year of trying prior of that for a pregnancy. We're on a similar timeline with many of the bio moms.

Dannye said...

alrighty then I better get going...gotta get dressed and out the door quickly...

thanks for the coffee RMJ...

Nancy said...

We've thought of that too. Our third son took over 2 years of trying before we ever became pregnant.

Unknown said...

ok, so how long have you been doing this chat thing and where is everyone from?

Unknown said...

Have a great Labor Day! Enjoy the time with your FIL.

Nancy said...

OK, I think plans have been set. We are going to head to Nappanee, IN's amish country to do research for our son's project.
Gotta go hit the shower and pull my hair back so we can go.

Thanks for the AM chat.

Unknown said...

we are okay waiting. God is preparing us to be the best parents we can be. Its just hard answering the questions from friends and stranger

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
I started the chat group about a month ago. Verna the blog fairy did the header for me. And I love it, I get to know so much more about everyone.

redmaryjanes said...

Nancy,
Good luck with your sons project. Enjoy the day. I would love the opportunity to meet more of the Amish. I have a lot of respect for them. There is a wonderful young woman who sells pies by our house.

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Rebecca!
Any big plans for the weekend?

Unknown said...

Im so glad I discovered this little group. Rebecca is a part of our monthly support group here in the Atlanta area, First Friday.

redmaryjanes said...

I wish that we had a weekly group here in Michigan. Steffie B and I tried to start one, but there really wasn't much interest. So, I guess that Stef and I are our own Michigan group.

Kim said...

Have a Great Weekend..
I am off to work...
Have fun with your FIL on the lake..
Kim

redmaryjanes said...

Hey Kim!
Have a great day at work!

Kim said...

Excuse me.... I am soooo sorry....
GOOOOOOOOD MORNING....
How rude of me..
Sorry..
In a hurry.. I will post later and check up on everyone's weekend..
TO ALL
HAVE A GREAT DAY..

Unknown said...

Our group meets once a month and is actually moving to a bigger place in October!

redmaryjanes said...

Kim,
You are too funny~ I know you're on the run girl! Have a great one.

redmaryjanes said...

There are about 5 Michigan Moms that I know of. I think maybe this fall I'll try again to organize something.

Amy, it's great that your group is so large. Do you meet with Tracy and Kris?

Unknown said...

I dont know Tracy and Kris but then again i am really bad with names. I know people from their blogs and their kids names.

A couple opened there home to encourage people in all stages of the adoption. We meet friends who are also waiting, who are thinking about waiting (haha) and those that are already home

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
How did people know about your group?

Unknown said...

I think it was word of mouth. We decided to adopt after meeting a family on our Disney cruise. She gave me Susans number and Susan inivited us and introduced us to our agency. ON another note, the family we met on the cruise is the family thats focused on in the video Lost Daughters of China

redmaryjanes said...

I still don't have that video. I need to get it. I would look for it at Barnes and Noble and Schullers, but they didn't have it in stock and it's twice as expensive to order it on-line.

Unknown said...

try ebay or amazon. Im thinking about getting a few when we have extra money so that we can share it.

redmaryjanes said...

That could be a cool Secret Buddy gift, now that I think of it. I keep buying things for my Secret Buddy. I just got a halloween outfit this week to send out in October. I can't resist little girl stuff.

Jewels of My Heart said...

Good Morning Sunshine! I hope you have a beautiful, blessed, and joyous weekend.... May it be filled with special times and laughter...

Unknown said...

What I love about the secret pal stuff is that buy things I would love but would never buy myself. Im living vicariously through others

redmaryjanes said...

Hello Daleea,
How are you my dear friend?

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
It has helped me to start buying for my daughter. For some reason, I haven't shopped for her. I got a few things right after I put in our dossier, but that was it. Now, when I find something really special for my secret buddy, I get one for Sophia too.

Unknown said...

It is fun. I found the coolest consignnment shop here and I have only picked up an item or 2 here or there..only sale items and then there is the one book a month thing on our LID anniversary!

FunFun!

Ashley said...

Good Morning RMJ!

redmaryjanes said...

We have a great consigment shop here too. I have bought the boys clothes there for 15 years now. I get all of the name brands without their pricetags. It's great.

redmaryjanes said...

Hey Ashley~!
When do you head back to school? Are you living at home or in a dorm?

Unknown said...

Good morning to Ashley and all..Hope you are having a nice morning

Unknown said...

Its a good thing I just found about it. The good thing about infertility and adoption is I have more than the normal 9 months to shop!

haha!

redmaryjanes said...

Yeah, it looks like we're going to have a long time to get ready. I don't know though. Because I wonder if the projection we were given when we put our dossiers in is what we're going to get. Like now there was the huge rush with the rules changing, so tons of people put their dossiers in in May, I can see how May people may have to wait because of that huge influx. Does that mean we will? I mean people who are getting their babies now have had an 18 month wait according the LID's I'm seeing.

Unknown said...

May 1 was the deadline so I think the April number is going to be huge. I dont talk about rumors on my blog but i do like the last one on the RQ!!!

Mr.Brian said...

Hope you have a very nice weekend with your father in law.I am sure it will be a weekend filled with mixed emotions.God Bless.
The banana bread and cookies sound rather good.If they are chocolate chip even better.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Mr.Brian!!!
Yes, they are chocolate chip. We are huge fans here, the Nestle Toll House recipe is taped inside of our cupboard.

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
What is RQ saying? I dropped by her blog this week, but it looks like an Amazon webpage, she has so many ads on it. I was disappointed with how commercialized it's becoming.
I love her good rumors though...

Mom 2 six said...

I can't hang around but have a great weekend. I am off to work. Enjoy the time with your FIL. I can't believe the kids go back Tuesday.
As always LOVE your blog.

Ashley said...

School started back on Monday. I'm living at home. How's your family doing? Have fun with your FIL!

redmaryjanes said...

Hey there Waala Mom!
What type of a nurse are you?

redmaryjanes said...

Ashley,
Our family is doing great. Everyone is healthy and enjoying themselves. We're looking forward to an active weekend here on the lake. My FIL will be a huge blessing here. I love him so much. The kids are thrilled that he is coming and staying over until Monday.

Unknown said...

the latest rumor is has been rated a 3 and European agencies are saying that a few December days are included..remember, this is what RQ is saying

Here is her quote
A second European Agency is now saying “with almost complete certainty” that some of December will be in this batch.

This is a very reliable agency and they have my complete attention with this one.

Juliette said...

Good morning everyone!
Hope you'll have a great long weekend. Weather is gorgeous here in Ontario.
RMJ I hope you'll have a great time with your FIL.

Jewels of My Heart said...

redmaryjanes said...

Hi Juliette~!
Glad to see you here this morning. I just love your blog and the way that you write. I wish that you lived closer...I'd begging for a lunch meet.

Unknown said...

id love to have lunch with all of you..thanks mso much RMJ for doing this

redmaryjanes said...

Daleea,
I know how that goes. Have fun with Hannah this morning. I want you to know that the video you did for your son had me in tears at work yesterday. It is absolutely beautiful.

Unknown said...

Ok ladies and gents, Im going to spend time with hubby for a bit..chat with you later!!

Amy

Juliette said...

Have a great weekend Amy.
Yes I love to come and say hello. It's a fun thing to do to start the weekend. I am getting hooked.
Though today we started it with a video conf with all my family in France. Was nice to see everybody.

redmaryjanes said...

Amy,
Thanks for coming by. I really have learned so much more about people and their families from chatting on Sat. morning.
I love your prayer group too, I go religiously (no pun intended :) to your Monday prayer group.

redmaryjanes said...

Juliette,
How cool is that? I would love to see my family get together on a video conference.

Juliette said...

We try to do that every weekend with Alex family and mine. We need this weekly connection to help us catch up on everybody's life. It's tough sometime to be so far away from them.
I'd love to go for lunch with you too! High Tech is a fun way to meet new people but sometime the real stuff is missing.

redmaryjanes said...

Yes, the being able to sit and look someone in the eye isn't there. But I tell you, you can see the hearts with time.

Juliette said...

You're right, and sometime it doesn't even take a long time, especially when you organize morning chats and special events for everybody and think about every birthdays of the bloggosphere :-)) You so much deserve your award my friend!

Juliette said...

Ok, I need to get a coffee and get my little princess ready for swimming pool.
Enjoy your time with your father in law and have a beautiful long weekend.

Unknown said...

Hubby made me some bicuits..What a nice lazy Sat morning. He doesnt work until 3 so we are just watching movies this morning. I will try to come back next week. Do you guys have any favorite stores you like to shop at>

Unknown said...

Have a great weekend. I am officially out..Have a great holiday as well

redmaryjanes said...

I shop at TJ Maxx, Old Navy, Nordstrom Rack, Target and the consignment store.
They are all close to where I work.

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day!!

Juliette said...

We don't have Target here up north, seems it's fun to go and lots of good deals.
We have Winners here and Home Sense, great deals and nice stuffs, often brand names. Roots is great too.
I love Old Navy and Children's place for Maëlle. Go to the Gap and Gymboree but only for the sale. On the Quebec side we have a nice kids'clothes place called Clement.
I love H&M too but there is none here in Ottawa so I need to go to Toronto or Montréal.
My treat is to go to Indigo, Chapters book stores and get a latte and sit there.
I could be shopping all the time...

redmaryjanes said...

It sounds like our countries have quite a few stores in common, but you mentioned some I have heard of.
I love to shop too, but our budget doesn't like it much. My husband is going to lose his mind when our daughter comes. I have waited my whole life for a daughter. I have a step-daughter, but she came into my life already grown.

Juliette said...

I know, I try to be sensible because I think we have plenty already and should try to use our money in a wiser way and share it as we can too. But it's tough because girls clothes are so darn cute!!
Ok I really need to go now: swimming pool for the whole family today and after we're heading to a hot-air balloons festival with friends. Should be fun!
Take care and have a good time too.

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great weekend Juliette~
