Eli & The Storm...

A storm is coming our way tonight. The wind has started to pick up and the thunder is rumbling. This is Eli's first storm where he is awake to see it and truly understand what is happening. At first he was afraid, but I told him that the thunder was the storm talking to us and telling us that it is coming. He liked that. Every 10-15 minutes he runs into our sunroom to see the storm. He told me he thought the storm was sad, so I told him to go and tell it that it is ok to come to our house and welcome it. It was so cute to see him standing by the front door telling the storm that it is ok and it can come to our house.
One of my favorite things about motherhood is getting to see the wonder that children experience when they see things for the first time. It is pure magic.

I'm glad the little guy wasn't too scared. I'm still terrified of thunderstorms.

It's awesome that you model not being afraid. Children definitely take their cues from the grown ups around them, and Eli's learning some wonderful ways of coping with fears! Great pictures, too!

Wow! Another storm! Didn't you just have one a few weeks ago?

Such a wonderful Mama! I loved the way you told him to welcome the storm.
We had one last night and at 3.31am I heard an enormous clap of thounder followed by "MUMMY" and a little girl charging into her daddy's arms as he jusmped out of bed to get her.

You can't beat a good storm... as long as you are not out in them. Though being in Florida and those hurricanes... I don't want those... thank you for your kind words about my site... I don't want it to be a 'negative' one about the wait etc - I had originally begun the thing for my family in Australia where I could tell them about the China journey and 1,000 things that I am doing. So, you can imagine that I don't want it to be negative... so, like I said that I do like to make it 'cheery' for them and everyone else. So, once again... thank you for your kind comments... I will say that I always enjoy dropping by your site too... take care and see you soon... Fliss

Very cute pix.

It's at our house now. My kids are not welcoming it. They keep crawling out of bed to tell me to ask the storm to please be quiet!

Glad everything worked out. You did a great job, I rather enjoy a good storm once in awhile as long as nothing is damaged. I like to make a hot chocolate and sit on the bay window.

it is amazing the things that come out our children's little hearts ... Elijah ask Emily the other day if she could see him when he was a baby, since she was up in heaven with God ... I was just shocked at the depth of faith our children have in the Lord ...

Hope Eli enjoyed his first storm in the comfort and protection of his home...

How sweet. Thunderstorms and the colorful falls are about the only two things I miss about Michigan weather-wise. I absolutely love thunderstorms and we don't have many of them out here. I hope Eli learns to enjoy them too. How's his owie healing?
