Good Morning RMJ. It is rainy here today too. Ironic. Hasn't hardly rained here since the boys finished spring sports, and then it decides to rain on the first day of fall sports.
I really hate to sit in the rain. But after reading about Jude, I am just thankful that I am able to watch them play.

redmaryjanes said...

I hear you Nancy. I am so sad about Jude. I tell you though, it was a very spiritual experience to watch the faith of that family and their pastor.

I so wanted this weekend to be nice. It has been raining all week so far.
My sons hockey season hasn't officially started yet, so we're not running around for a little while longer.

Nancy said...

We have 2 soccer games. Of course, they are both at 12:15pm. Then tonight the two older boys have different birthday parties to go to.
We are planning on taking the youngest mini-putting or something.

In the mean time, I am trying to make a quick run through of my house and get it back in order. It's amazing how having them back at school leaves me more to clean up with all they bring home and drop off everywhere.

redmaryjanes said...

Hopefully the rain will hold out long enough to for you to be able to enjoy your soccer game/games. Eli's larger toys are all downstairs in our living area, so I am constantly having to clean up. The older boys are learning to clean up after themselves, I have stopped doing it for them this summer. I wasn't a very good Mom about having them take care of their belongings, but this summer I have started expecting cleaner bedrooms and their stuff to be picked up.

Hey, good morning, you're up early. I have to go into work this morning for just a short time, so I had to get up early too. Thought I'd sit at the computer a sec while my coffee is brewing too! The rest of the house is still sleeping.

Yuck, raining here too. I can't believe how much rain we've had this August. We have our new basement carpet (after our flood earlier this month) and so far it's still dry. Our new sump pump has been at it 24/7 practically.

Jude's story just breaks my heart. It definitely makes me hold mine closer and realize the fragility of life.

adele and dan said...

Hi all-
It's sunny and very hot here in Savannah. It's 8am and 82degrees already!

redmaryjanes said...

Rachael,
Wow, that was a pretty quick turn-around with getting your basement back together. What color did you paint it?
Where do you work?

redmaryjanes said...

Adele,
I would love to live in Savannah. It is my dream city. I love the South and everything about it.
Have you seen Paula Dean?? Love her, I'm her biggest fan.

Calico Sky said...

good morning! For once it is BOILING here, may have to hit the beach, but right now planting flowers in my garden...HOT HOT HOT!

redmaryjanes said...

Hi there Kate!
My garden looks awful. It was so dry here for so long, I couldn't keep my hostas moist enough. I hate it when they get brown on their leaves. The week when I was dealing with my mother-in-law passing away, things didn't get watered like they should. Now I have brown leaves.

adele and dan said...

I've eaten there a few times. It's ok. The wait time to get in can be up to 2hours. I don't think it's worth the wait. I see her around town once in awhile. I enjoy living here. It hardly ever rains and the people are really nice.

Calico Sky said...

RMJ it is soooo hard to fix once brown - I have had this happen to me on too many occasions.
I am so sorry about your MIL. I hope you are able to have some time off work to just be at peace with your family.
I left a message for Jude's family. I feel so so sad for them...

redmaryjanes said...

Adele,
People are nicer nicer down there than they are in the North. I would move there in a minute!
Man, if I saw Paula Dean, I would probably turn into a huge freak, watery eyed and all and take pictures. I'd scare her to death. I was just watching her show Paula's Party last night.

adele and dan said...

If your ever here, please let me know I'll show you around. It is a beautiful city and I'm originaly from NYC

adele and dan said...

Thank you all for a nice morning. The husbands up and has to do paper work on our one computer...HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND THANK YOU RMJ

redmaryjanes said...

Kate,
I tell you, Jude passing is laying very heavy on my heart. We live on a lake here, it is right outside of our front door and drowning has always been my biggest fear. I actually have a lock on the top of the doors that I lock at night so that Eli can't get out. Having a 2 year old son and then seeing that little boy, I just couldn't even face it without thinking of being in the same situation and the pain of just the thought of it was too much. His poor mother, with a 2 month old child she is trying to breast feed and care for. I just can't imagine.

Rachael said...

RMJ -- I'm almost finished with our basement, but still putting some finishing touches on the mural. Hopefully I'll do the big reveal on my blog in a couple of days. Re: work, I'm a dr. and have a group private practice, but I'm on call this weekend, so I have to go up to the hospital and make rounds.

P.S. Yikes -- it is really POURING rain now. Oh, I am crossing my fingers we stay dry inside. Can you imagine flooding twice?

OK, I'm off now, I'll check back later and see what I missed. Have a great day!

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day Adele!!

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day Dr. Rachael! I didn't know you were a doctor, cool.

Kim said...

Good Morning..
You know where I am off too..
Hope your weekend weather gets better.

Have a wonderful day! I love your header.

I need to figure out how to do the ESnips music....

redmaryjanes said...

Rebecca,

Click on the song name underneath the little orange guy and it will take you to the site.
In the upper right hand corner is a search square.
Type in the song or artist you are looking for.
Scroll through the list and choose your song, make sure it has mp3 on the header.
You will go to a screen that has a listing that says something like mp3 widgets, click on that word.
Choose your the orange guy you like.
You will see him on the next screen, there is a square to click underneath for auto play, click that so it will play when people open your page.
You can see the html for your song on there, right click to copy it.
Take it back to your blog and add it like you would a picture, but make sure you put it in under the html section.
You should be all set!

It is so sad, I hope that she is able to continue feeding the baby and having him close to her. I'll be praying for them.

I know it was a big factor in the home assessment here for the homestudy (water). I read somewhere about some sort of a fence you can get around/infront of the lake. Have you looked into that? I have always wanted a pool, but from my old job (child safety) I worry, I worry BIGTIME! Same with trampolines, I am amazed when I see pics of kids jumping in open trampolines (no netting/fence around). I know you can't wrap in cotton wool but it's scary.
My friend who is a family dr but has a special interest in child safety has her top 6 worries:

water
trampolines
popcorn (not to be given to 3 and under due to choking)
Bottles - no bottles to bed/lying down due to choking/ear infections
Carseats - back seat, teather!
Baby walkers - banned in some countries

She told me these are the 6 places she has seen the most accidents with kids....scary isn't it?

Kim said...

Do you have anything planned for today???
Or is the weather still bad?

redmaryjanes said...

It is very scary. I required my old daycare lady to cover the bottom of her trampoline. Her husband was furious with me, but Eli ran under it while children were jumping and it freaked me right out. There is plastic pliable fencing that can easily go around the bottom and that is what they did. I still had to move Eli for other reasons.
I can't put up a good fence because we are in an association, the whole community actually owns the waterfront. And fences are banned period in our neighborhood. I demand life jackets. It's a way of life. Eli is so used to wearing his life jacket outside that it is second nature. He is also constantly supervised, as any 2 year old should be.
Luckily, our neighbors all have the same expectations and all of our children wear life jackets while on the docks or swimming. Eli is the only toddler and he wears his most of the time.

redmaryjanes said...

Kim,
It's raining right now, but it's supposed to clear up this afternoon. We're going to invite my father-in-law over and hopefully have a nice family day at home. He works for Lowe's though, so we don't know if he has today off or not.
Tomorrow we are visiting a new church to see if we like it.

redmaryjanes said...

How rude am I??? Kim, what are you guys doing this weekend?

Calico Sky said...

that's really good that Eli is used to it as a way of life. Yes, I can sooo see your concerns with your last daycare...scary. They sell those net fenses that go around so you can't bounce off and the ones that go underneath too so noone toddles under. They should make it manditory :(
At least in US and Canada most kids wear helmets, here it is sooo rare to see a child wear a helmet when they ride their bikes. *Sigh*
Okay, off to plant some more plants.
Have a great morning, will check back later soon

Kim said...

It's raining here too...
We has been really humid here this year..
As you know in AZ. it is dry heat..
We do not do very well in humid weather.. and usually it is around 90 but it has been in around 109 or 111...
Really nasty..
Hopefully this will go away soon..
We are having them come out to measure our windows and doors again..
We are going to have new ones put in.. can't wait for the electric bill to go down..YEAH..
Well I will talk to you later..
I need to finish getting ready..
Take care..
Have a Great day

redmaryjanes said...

Have fun with your plants. I really love gardening. Enjoy the day there in England!

Good Morning. I'll be praying for Jude's family today. Sad.
We are having a lovely day here in WI. The sun is shining after a long time away...Our vacation was fun but we had no sun at all. It will be a park day for sure. Have a great day.

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great day Kim!

redmaryjanes said...

Lisa,
How are you?? It's great to talk to you. This rain is supposed to clear up here by this afternoon, so hopefully they are right. Your vaca pictures are great. I was so bummed when I heard that you weren't going to be on that tv show. I'll bet there will be another one, they keep calling you.

My neighbor is having a yard sale. Just went out and put up my canopy for her to cover her things she had outside of the garage. It is a dinosaur of a canopy, so it took my oldest and I 45 minutes to do it.

We are expecting the rain to stop today, I think. Then it is going to be nice here for a couple days. Which we need. The heat here has been terrible lately.
I go for a 3-5 mile walk everyday after I have gotten all 3 off to school, and this week it has been terribly hot and humid already by 8:00am.

Nancy said...

Good heavens...RMJ!
Your morning chats are getting popular. Not even 9:00am yet and 35 comments.

redmaryjanes said...

Nancy,
I wish I was your neighbor, I'd try to walk with you. That is great. Yeah, I'm over this rain. We needed it so badly at first, but it's starting to make me feel all gloomy.

redmaryjanes said...

I am really enjoying the morning chat. I find out so much more about everybody than from reading their comments and I can ask them questions. It's been pretty cool. You know, some people think that it's all fluff on here, but when my mother-in-law died, we got by far, more support from my on-line friends than from anyone. It was amazing. The women here really care and they are great people.

Dannye said...

good morning...had a few moments to try to wake up before I am off to the get together...

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye,
I think you are going to have a fantastic time. I wish we could pull something like that off in Michigan. Maybe this fall.
I'm still waiting for my bibs to come. Are people getting theirs yet? Am I too impatient?

Dannye said...

I have only gotten my bib from Nancy, I have asked they be mailed out by the months end....so I'll send an email out this week reminding people to mail them if they haven't....

yes this get together is exciting but I am a little nervous too...

Dannye said...

I want to make sure everyone has a great time, etc.

As I said (and thank you), I got some little "goodie" bags for the attendees...

redmaryjanes said...

I am being impatient. It's not the end of the month yet. I love swaps and mailers. I think it's great fun to get stuff in the mail. I hope you have others, I'll definitely sign up. Do you have the baby shower for Gwen's little girl on you calender for Sept 15?

Dannye said...

for the waiting families I got a ladybug receiving blanket, some "bubble stuff", a magnet for the fridge (one says "going to China bringing home baby" and the other "Yes she is my daughter"), and some foam stickers....

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye,
Where did you get the magnets? Are they from a special website?

Dannye said...

for the families home with the children, I got things for the children (for the toddlers I got them a stuffed animal, "bubble stuff", and the foam stickers, for the 5 yr old and 7 yr old boys I got cars, a spinning thing that lights up, magic tricks, foam stickers, and "bubble stuff", for the 7 and 8 yr old girls I got jacks, a ball thing you squish called "moody face", foam stickers, and "bubble stuff", and for the 12 yr old I got a Suduko pen, a diamond ring that lights up, foam stickers and "bubble stuff"....

Dannye said...

yes, I got the magnets from Cafe Press (the Yes she is my daughter is from my friend Gina's fund raiser on Cafe Press, and the Going to China Bringing Home baby I found on Cafe Press)....

redmaryjanes said...

Thanks so much! I have that coupon you gave me from there. I'll have to check it out.

redmaryjanes said...

Dannye,
Wow, you got a lot of stuff. Those kids are going to love you and hopefully they will stay entertained so you ladies can have some good conversations.

Dannye said...

alright I better get going loading the car, getting dressed, making sure I have everything...

I'll post about it later!!

Thanks for everything!!

redmaryjanes said...

No, thank you. I'm so glad that I am getting to know you better.

Deb said...

Oh how cool! Mornin coffee! I love it....probably missed everyone though did I? Oh well hope you have a great day RMJ. Good luck with your search to finding a great youth group. I agree it is very important for them to get connected expecially while they are teens. It's a very impressionable age for them.

redmaryjanes said...

Hi there, I'm still here. Chat group goes until noon! What are your plans for this weekend?

Juliette said...

Hello my friend!
still on board, how cool of you to do that every Saturday!
And glad to see the storm wasn't so bad.

redmaryjanes said...

Juliette,
I love getting to talk to everyone fo r a bit. I learn so much more about them. What are your weekend plans?

Nancy said...

I'm still here, just checking in between cleaning. Have the floors mopped, bathrooms cleaned, and am on my way to vacuum 3 floors.

Then I will be done, except for dusting, but only the cleaning nazi dusts and does the other things that are being neglected. She didn't show up today.

Nancy said...

I enjoy my morning walks. It helps me get the day started. Especially since I am home, and hate being at home alone.
By time I get the boys out, walk, browse the paper, attempt the sudoku and eat breakfast it is almost 10:00am.

Nancy said...

Dannye
Have a great day. Looking forward to hearing about it later.

Juliette said...

Ho and Hello Nancy and others too.
We have friends over from Toronto this weekend. Waiting for them to get ready and off we'll go to the Nature museum to see the dinosaurs and other fun stuffs. Weather is sticky and hot here after a chilly week so better going in a museum than outside.

redmaryjanes said...

You're going to have a great time. We don't have a good museum nearby with dinosaurs. Chicago is our closest.

Juliette said...

I love going in museum, and now I found they have more and more stuffs for kids.
How far is Chicago from your place?
I am longing to go there one day. My brother in law who is coming to visit us in September is going there 5 days in between. He's an architect and can't wait to go.

Deb said...

Ugggg, I just came from signing the Gilliams guestbook and pouring out all over my keyboard.....I can't imagine what they must be feeling today.

What am I doing this weekend? I am taking my two neices and having a sleepove with them. We have them once in a while on Saturday nights and that gives us a chance to take them to Church with us on Sunday morning! Other than that I'm hoping to work on a couple of projects around the house that I've just been picking at through the summer. Oh! And if my husband invites me I may tag along with him when he goes golfing tomorrow.

Juliette said...

Hi Debbie,
might be fun to have the girls for a sleep over. I'd love to have my nephews sometimes to do that, but they live a little bit too far...

Deb said...

Juliette
Yes it is a blessing to have them live so close. I turn into a kid when they come here..it is a blast!

Juliette said...

I can imagine. How old are they?
That's why I can't wait for Maëlle to have a sister, that will be so great for them to play together and have fun.

redmaryjanes said...

Hi there ladies! Good Morning. I love it when everyone starts talking.
