The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls

I know that this special came out a couple of weeks ago, but I missed it the first time around. I watched on Monday night. I was in tears, literally sobbing through the majority of the show. I have always been a huge Oprah fan, but now I see her in a bigger light. What she is doing is incredibly inspiring to me. She personally chose every detail of this school. She invested so much more than just money, she invested herself.

The accounts that these girls gave of their lives would have devastated me as a human being. They are so strong and capable. If you have the opportunity to watch this, it will change you.

Oprah said that she now understood why she never had children, because these girls were now her daughters.

It's inspiring to see someone with so much striving to truly make a difference in the lives of others. Seeing these beautiful girls revelling in the opportunity for an education should be a reality check for our young people here - sometimes I wonder if some of them know how truly blessed they are.

I cried through the whole special also. What amazing and beautiful girls! I am so proud of Oprah for building this school, and putting her all into it. When she said they were all her daughters, I cried so hard my husband came into the room and asked me what was wrong. lol

We also watched it, with our 11 year old son. He was mesmorized! He was in complete shock over what those girls go through on a daily basis. It made me smile that he too enjoied the show and knew the meaning of it as well.
