Visit to the Cardiologist

This is Jason. He is a nurse who works with our pediatric cardiologist. He was very instrumental in helping us bring Sophia home. He is the man who answered my call for help and had me e-mail Sophia's referral information to him. He reviewed everything and had the cardiologist review it too and got back to us very quickly. I cannot say enough about this man.

As many of you know, I was hoping for a better outcome from this appointment but I am still happy that everything is ok for our girl. Sophia's heart surgery for asd/vsd should have been done when she was about a year old and wasn't done until she was almost four. The result is that her heart is slightly enlarged from all of the additional work it had to do to keep her alive. Our cardiologist said her condition is mild and he thinks she will grow out of it, but she needs to remain on her blood pressure medication for another year. She does not have an issue with blood pressure, the meds help her heart to relax and get used to working properly now that it has been repaired.

What a little sweetheart. I just love her smile. She's so brave. It took Josie FOREVER to go her to cardiology appointments without screaming and crying. I'll continue to pray that she outgrows her heart issues.

From one SN "heart" Mommie to another, I'm always here for you!!

She is such a sweetheart Kimberley and what a brave girl she is!
I know some about pediatric cardiac issues and I'm confident when her doctor says she'll outgrow it. You are so lucky to have such a great cardiologist and team for Sophia.

She is so sweet....and very brave! Sounds like you are in wonderful hands with your Cardiologist and his nurse...... I too believe that if the doc believes she will outgrow this, then that is what will happen. Sophia is such a blessing......makes me smile to think of all that you went through to bring her home and to see you all together now.

Have a wonderful week!

It has been a while since visiting... I must say the last few months have been crazy - yet the last few days have been truly bizarre... never thought I would actually get here... it seems so surreal... I am going to attempt to thank everyone that wished us luck and came to see our gorgeous Shauna... finally a face is there... so once again... thank you for being part of it... when things settle down I will try to visit you more often... hugs to you and glad that things were ok with Sophia... hugs to you all..

Great pics of your brave little one! We will just have to pray her little heart back to normal. I'm so glad Sophia Jane is home where the doctors can help her and where she is in the loving arms of her mama! :)

Love,

awww..how awesome that you were able to meet and get a pic with Jason. What an awesome story. I'm glad to hear your little Sophia will most likely outgrow her current cardiac issues. What a sweetheart she is. I'm so sorry she's had to endure all she has already. Praise God she's home finally and in good care.

these kids always amaze me, they are just so resilient. we just went through 5.5 hours of urology testing on Thursday.. and like you, didn't get the results we'd hoped for... but we know that the 3 of us, together, can face anything.

we make a great team :O)

I can't believe how fast your girl is growing Kimberly!

Oh she's beautiful :)

Our daughter (3.5) had surgery in China and there is still a hole - I didn't expect that. The Cardiologist says her heart works fine, just differently than other hearts. I think I know how you are feeling.

hugs :)
