Family Reading Time

Every night at 7pm the television in our house is turned off for family reading/homework time. If the boys have homework, that's the time to start it and if they don't, then they can read a book. Last night Tyler didn't have any homework because they are taking Meap tests. So, he read for an hour to Eli. I think you can see by the look on Eli's face how much this meant to him. When they were done, Eli told me he was very proud of Tyler :)

Ahhhh, what a sweet big brother. Reading time is a very important thing over here too. When S.G. is finished with her homework, we crawl in to bed and read "for fun." We just finished reading The Candy Corn Contest, one I read to my second graders every year.

No way!! At 7pm TV off? Oh I only wish!! I would love to implement a family reading time but we just never have the time. I swear from the time the boys walk trhough the door after school it is like we run!! First homework then on somdays a sport practice then a little bit of ourdoor play while I am getting dinner ready and then Hubby gets home and we have dinner then baths and then a little bit of down time and then bed. Until the kids are in bed I dont get a chance to take a breath. I would so welcome a family reading down time!!

Gotta love those "brotherly love" moments. What a sweet picture. You can show it to them when they start fighting to prove that they DO love each other!! lol...

That is just the sweetest act of brotherly love! My boys read every night at 8:00. I think it is so important.

Family reading hour - what an excellent idea!! I can't wait until our daughter is home and we can start a similar tradition in our home. I also want to have a family game night and can't wait to break out Candy Land and all of the other fun games I used to play when I was little.

PS - I love your new header!

What a great idea. We do a lot of reading at our house too. We try not to turn our t.v. on much at all, although DH has difficulty with that one in the evenings! I finally have a pic up on the blog of my little one wearing the cute shirt you sent.

Hope all is well,I am praying for your family.

We have family reading time too. Since my girls are still so young, I read to them, but they love it. By the way, I love your Halloween theme. It's cool!

WHat a sweet picture. In our home, we start homework right after school so they don't dread homework later and never procrastinate so that they could stay up past their bedtime. :).

I just love that picture! We also have reading time at our house. It is usually around 7:30 pm after homework is done.

I am an avid reader and it is important for me that my boys read too.

How sweet that Tyler read to Eli! I love when they are sweet all on their own! I am having trouble getting your blog open lately. it crashes my computer every time and I need to re-launch. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this...
