Welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat Group...

Good Morning Everyone and welcome to the Saturday Morning Chat Group! I hope you all are well!

I had a wonderful conversation with Amanda yesterday and she gave me quite a big of information about herself and Starfish. (What she could through IMing).
She told me that there was some damage from the earthquake to the Starfish home which is a 3 bedroom apartment. They are trying to get repairs done. She said it is mostly drywall repair and the carpet will need work. All of the babies now stay on the first floor. I told her all about the fundraiser and the auction. She told me to please thank everyone. She cannot see our blogs, they are blocked in China. She sent me an article that she wrote a little while ago, so if you want to know how she began Starfish, please read the post below.

I know that many of us are still very emotional about the earthquake. All I can say is please continue to pray. The stories coming out about the devastation are just overwhelming to me.

The auction still needs your support. Please look around your home and see what treasures you may have to donate. So far over $1000 has been raised, but each surgery costs approx. $3000. If you are unfamiliar with the auction, press the link on the upper right hand of my blog. Head on over there today and do a little shopping ; ) I just donated 3 dresses.

Sharon from 'And Bai Li Makes 3' is in China right now to bring her daughter Bailey home. Please pray for them and follow their journey.

Janet from 'Tuininga Treasures' is home from Africa with her two little ones. She is posting about their adoption experience, so if you would like to know what it's like to adopt from Africa, please visit their blog.

THE CHAT ROOM IS NOW CLOSED....HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!

Hi there! I'm trying to find the right graphic for today. We hope to have a relaxing weekend here.
I do believe we are in the review room, but to get our agency to see that is another story : )

redmaryjanes said...

We did get the boat out. I am in heaven, it is so relaxing for me. We are hoping that it won't rain today so we can spend some more time on it.
I can't wait to see some pictures with your new lens!
I want you to know how cool I think you are. You are always there for every post I do and you support everything for the women in blogland.

Good morning Kimberley & Kim!

It's a gorgeous morning here.

Kim, I love your blinking icon -- I'm thinking about having Diana do one for me, too.

Kim said...

That is what we are all here for... to support each other through the tough times... and in the end we will all be home with our girls.. then we can use each other as "Helping mommy's... we will all need a ear then too....
I will meet you one day.. Did you like what I mentioned the other night about the SB

Truly Blessed said...

BOTH of you are blogger cheerleaders. Seriously, you two are everywhere I travel, leaving words of encouragement and comfort behind you. You are both so kind and encouraging...you're the best.

Kim said...

Thanks girly..
Diana is trying to get business.. Just let her know that you liked mine.. it only takes her a few minutes.. send her as many pictures and if you want something written on it..
I had her make me some letters and other things for my SB.. so I will post them with her blog ... she is excited. she has got about 4 blog makeovers from my site..well girls I have to go.. or I will be late for work..
LOVE YA BOTH..

redmaryjanes said...

Hi there Kelly, how are you? It is gorgeous this morning!

Truly Blessed said...

Bye, Kim, have a great day!

Kimberley, three of my guys (plus a nephew) are at the lake getting our dock, boat, hoists, etc. in the water. I can't believe next weekend is Memorial Day already and that the boys have FINISHED their last full week of school. Wow this school year flew by!

Truly Blessed said...

So, Kimberley, were you able to make heads or tails out of that list I forwarded to you?

Unknown said...

Good morning friends!

Unknown said...

Hope you are all doing well

Truly Blessed said...

Good morning Amy!

I wasn't around much last Saturday, so how was your cruise? I'll have to pop over to your site to see pictures. It's just so relaxing on those cruises.

redmaryjanes said...

Tim got it to print out, so yes, thank you. It was great to see it. I still don't think Bethany is even trying to view it yet. We'll see.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Amy, how are you? Any good baby names? I have one for you. A baby at Eli's daycare is named Blaze.

redmaryjanes said...

Diana makes some very cool things. I would like her to make a header for me. Is she reasonable price wise?

Unknown said...

I had a rocking time, ready to go back. Now there is some drama in my yahoo group

Unknown said...

One member posted that her son gave his heart to Christ and apparently that post was the straw that broke the camels back. People want to leave because God was mentioned..

Oh its sooooo bad

Truly Blessed said...

Amy, what's the drama about now?

Kimberley, I don't know about her prices, but she is VERY into the whole computer/digital scrapbooking thing, as well as a talented seamstress.

I met Diana, Dori and her guys in Guangzhou at the White Swan. We were in the same DTC Yahoo group.

Unknown said...

Lets see baby names..

Had an Adonai come in last night and last week we had a Placentas!

Seriously

redmaryjanes said...

What? That is nuts. One families spiritual experience shouldn't freak everyone else out.
If someone told me they went to a budhist temple, I wouldn't leave my yahoo group.

Truly Blessed said...

Amy,

I find it very interesting that the people who scream and preach about "tolerance" are quite often the ones who are completely INtolerant when someone says something that they don't agree with. In other words, "I'm tolerant of you IF you agree with me." So sad.

redmaryjanes said...

I have heard of the Placentas before. Evidently mother's hear the doctor discussing it during the labor and they think it sounds pretty.

redmaryjanes said...

I agree Kelly,
That is just unreal. A chat group is just that, a chat group. People should be able to express themselves.

Truly Blessed said...

Placentas? Oh dear. How awful.

Adonai sounds like a greek kid -- he better not be blonde/blue eyed! (and yes, I do know it was first used a name of God!)

Truly Blessed said...

Heh. I don't think "placentas" sounds pretty at all!

I sure hope that poor child gets a cool nickname soon!

Truly Blessed said...

I was listening to the radio when a (man) caller called in - his name was Autumn. The DJs gave him such grief about that. Poor guy...I'm sure he's gone through that his whole life.

redmaryjanes said...

Yes, I think names are important.

Mom 2 six said...

Good Morning everyon...placenta ?
That is crazy. This is our first weekend without a fundraiser. Just set to relax.
Shelly

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Shelly!
How are you guys?

Unknown said...

Our LID yahoo group is just torn. We suggested to out the subject matter in hte subject line but that still offends some. Every yahoo group does this, why is mine different

Nancy said...

Hi Ladies,
Can't chat today.
Our 17th anniversary is Monday, and hubby has something up his sleeve today. We are suppose to leave in an hour.
Tomorrow my son is having his 14th birthday party so I also need to get ready for that.
Spent yesterday doing laundry, cutting up fresh fruit, and making muffins.
I made cupcakes Thursday and put them in the freezer. Need to ice those at some point today too.

Truly Blessed said...

Good morning, Shelly. I don't think I congratulated you yet on your new son! That is so cool!

How's the paperchase coming?

Truly Blessed said...

Good morning Nancy!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! 17 years is quite an accomplishment. Hope whatever he has planned is exciting and fun!

Happy Birthday to your son, too!

redmaryjanes said...

Happy Anniversay Nancy! I hope you have a wonderful time and I can't wait to hear all about it.

Margaret M said...

Hi everyone! I'm here and will now go catch up on the posts. Good Morning to all!

Truly Blessed said...

You know, Amy, let the people who are SO offended leave. They should just quietly go and not be allowed to stir up the group so.

Maybe the person/people who reacted so strongly were just having a bad day.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Margaret!

redmaryjanes said...

Shelly,

Maybe all of us women on the chat can do a post today for the Wii fundraiser...: )

Truly Blessed said...

Good morning, Margaret.

I hope you weren't too disappointed at not getting your TA yesterday (or did you?). I thought 2 weeks as a little improbable myself, but it sure would have been nice!

Mom 2 six said...

Happy 17 !
We are doing great. We had our last home study appointment this week. Now we need our fingerprinting then 171. Authentication/Notorization/translation then DTC. It's coming along. Thanks for the congrats. We are so excited ! We really did not think we would ever do it again.
Never say never I guess....

Unknown said...

Its funny, its Christians and non believers arguing.

At this point, I hate being the moderator!

I dont want anyone to feel uncomfortable. I had one member say she felt unwelcome since the yahoo group had such a powerful number of Christian posts. I hate that people feel uncomfortable

redmaryjanes said...

That is really just too bad Amy. Life is about tolerance.

Truly Blessed said...

There is a lady in China now adopting her fifth daughter (they also have two sons). She and her hubby brought their four Chinese daughters back to China to pick up the fifth little girl. Mom is quite stressed out and spends a whole lotta time journaling her story on the computer.

It's funny and sad overwhelming and a tad bit scary all at the same time.

Not sure why I told you this, but it just popped into my mind. (oh, I know why, it' cause Shelly said "never say never")

Unknown said...

It makes my heart sad but I prefer to focus on more positive things

redmaryjanes said...

Sharon from Bai Li Makes 3 is in China now too.
She is adopting the little girl that Tim and I were interested in.

Unknown said...

So whats going on with everyone today? We made try to make it to the Greek Festival

Truly Blessed said...

Oh, Kimberley, isn't it fantastic that "your" little girl has a family now? Even if she isn't in your family, she has a FAMILY. That is so lovely.

Margaret M said...

Amy,

I am on the group too and I have not posted regarding the topic because it really has gotten out of hand. I think the bigger issue was that the post that started it all did not mention Off Topic in the subject line and that many of the religious postings on the group do not menttion Off Topic and that this has gone on for a while. For whatever reason, it struck a cord that day and has started a huge debate.

Personally, I think a strong statement from the moderator needs to be posted that it will be handled like all other groups and as long as Off Topic is in the subject line, there should me no issue. You have such a giving heart and are trying so hard to make everyone Happy. Unfortunately, not all people want to be happy and some just want to complain. I would just make a firm decision and if some leave, do not be offended personally. Maybe, they were looking for a reason to leave. Make sense?

redmaryjanes said...

I am very happy because Sharon is an amazing woman. And it was Bailey who brought us together. My girl hasn't revealed herself yet, but she will.

Margaret M said...

Kimberly,

I will have to go check out their journey. I know that you are happy for them but that it pulls on your heartstrings too. We had the same thing happen when we were adopting Lily. I know that the little girl is with the family that was meant to be hers but still I wonder....what it would have been like to have her in our family.

Margaret M said...

Kelly,

I thought it was unrealistic too but after such a long wait for LOA, I have to admit that I was hopeful!!!!! Maybe this week. I would still love to be there that first week of June. He has waited long enough for us!

Truly Blessed said...

Margaret, it sure would have been nice. I just wonder why all of the agencies don't see the same things when they check the CCAA site. Why did your agency feel so strongly that TAs were on the way, when mine said "no way -- not yet"? Interesting.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Dannye! How are you girl? Great photos of you from last weekend.

Im still trying to rest from the long weekend...we had a ball though...and I so loved meeting Cyndi and Dean...we just clicked...and Cyndi and I are so much alike it's scary...

redmaryjanes said...

Margaret,

I asked Sharon to please give Bailey a special hug and kiss from me on her gotcha day because she will always be special to me.
And Sharon told me the she definitely would. She is such a great woman.

What is hard for me truly is that my agency is so far behind with information and unwilling to put in the extra effort to learn and view the new shared list.

I feel like we will be waiting forever.

Dannye said...

Amy, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and Michael too....the more I think about it, Michael and I may have briefly met in YoungLife...I just don't think we couldn't have since we were both attending at the same time...

redmaryjanes said...

Have a great weekend Keisha!

Unknown said...

Good morning Alyson!

Margaret M said...

Kelly,

I am not sure if they specifically said that they were on their way but rather that they hoped to have them by end of last week or early this coming week. People heard different things and one person posted that they stated TAs were on their way. I heard they were hoping which is what I put on my blog. I think the bigger issue is that if they get TAs for all who received LOA on 5/1 that is 30+ families to plan travel. Many of the families are going to different locations and adopting from different orphanages...a lot to coordinate. I think they had to start early to get it organized but who knows when they will come. I am still Hoping for early next week.

Truly Blessed said...

OMW, I just popped over to Keisha's blog and it is GORGEOUS! Keisha, if you're still here or if you read this, your children are beautiful and so is your blog!

Margaret, what agency are you using? It sounds huge.

My agency, Christian World Adoptions has three families (us included) in the SN program and two NSN families. It sounds like three of the five families will be going to Guangdong the whole time, we'll go to Jiangxi and the fifth family hasn't been heard from. When we traveled for Katie, all 11 families went to Guangdong the whole time.

I am going to host a shower for April too. Maybe I can work out some dates with both of you and get them planned.

redmaryjanes said...

You did just miss Amy Special K. Have you met here there in Georgia.

Special K said...

Yes, I actually know Amy IRL!

We can absolutely do a 100 Wishes Quilt shower...but shoot for a 100 square quilt for both girls. You can count on several squares from me!

redmaryjanes said...

I think Amy is fantastic, I was teasing her about how she has met so many people who we blog with.

Good Morning! Jumping back in - this comment is from Alyson (Ford's other half),
Truly Blessed,
We don't have access to your blog - I thought we did at one time but have lost it! Can you add us? Send an email from our blog if you wish to add us.
We are off to start our weekend chores! Have a great day!

Good Morning Alyson!

Special K, I just visited your blog...what an adorable little guy you have!!! I love what Verna did with your blog design, too. She is so good!

Truly Blessed said...

Alyson, sure, the invite will be sent in a minute.

Katie's playing with her little dollhouse (we bought the AA family to have a little diversity in our household, but big sister is a blue eyed blonde!).

And she's watching her "DBDB" (DVD) Big Bird in China (she loves Xiao Fu!)

Kelley said...

Oops! Sorry everybody...I switched log-ins, so that I could update my family blog. It's still me (Kelley from Sunshine and Rubber Duckies), in case you don't recognize my picture...

Kelley said...

Whoa...what a coincidence, Kelly! We're watching Big Bird in China, too!

redmaryjanes said...

Katie is such a doll. I love seeing her at church. She is always so sweet and well behaved, and then there is my little Elijah with a scowl on his face and a little attitude.

redmaryjanes said...

Are you there special k?

Special K said...

Thanks Kelley! I love Verna's redesign of our blog. I miss the Chinese takeout theme, but her work is really cool.

Special K said...

Yep, I'm here. I'm still getting the hang of comment chatting. (I forget to hit refresh!)

I wasn't aware of cleft speach, so it was interesting to read your post about little Micah.
He doesn't look at all like he had a cleft repair, his surgeon did a fabulous job.

Hey Kimberley, speaking of pushing your agency to see the SN list, I spoke with someone who used them and had a similar problem a couple of years ago. They wouldn't willingly send it to her, so she took a day off of work (she teaches at WMU) drove to the HQ and sat there looking at it. She found her daughter that day on the list and has been home since December 06. Her original LID was 3/06 sometime.

Keep pushing, Sophia is waiting!

Truly Blessed said...

Thanks for the kind comments about Katie at church. She's always in a good mood at church because she loves playing with the kids and she gets cookies and juice and her big brothers are carting her around...

Believe me, she can have an attitude!

His lip was repaired in China and the repair is just wonderful. He has a small scar, but not much. He's scheduled to have his palate repaired in June.

I will tell you that I have been all over them. My e-mails have been very direct. They know exactly what I think. Tim says we'll either be matched right away so they can get me off of their backs, or we'll never be matched because I have made them angry.
When I was talking to my SW and she was taking notes about what I know because she hadn't heard of it, that was SO DISCOURAGING FOR ME.
They should be my source of information, not the other way around.
I never get any answers from them regarding what they are doing. My SW just tells me she is forwarding my e-mails to the China team.
I will get the next SN list, but the last one only had 3 new babies on it. The babies are going on the shared list, not the list Bethany sits and waits for.

Special K said...

I'm so sorry you're having to fight to get a chance at a child.

Truly Blessed said...

Kimberley,

I know the feeling that comes from thinking that your agency is working against you instead of for you. Even though that really may not be the case, it sure feels like it.

Keep pushing and don't back down. YOU are paying the bills here!

I am a fighter when it comes to my children. We'll see how this all plays out. Plus, I know of 2 other families waiting too who are very discouraged and we all deserve something better than what we are getting.

redmaryjanes said...

You guys, I had the most amazing conversation with Amanda yesterday.

redmaryjanes said...

She is amazed by the amount of attention that she is generating. She said she can't see the blogs to know and that she's just living in her apartment and taking care of the babies.

redmaryjanes said...

Good Morning Little Kate!

Truly Blessed said...

Amanda is such an amazing person. I have followed her journey from the very beginning. I would love to do what she does when my children are grown up (heh...it's going to be a LONG time before my house is empty -- as my oldest son keeps reminding me!).

What an incredible difference she is making in the lives of those children and the families who are fortunate enough to parent them.

When she first started, she was given the babies the doctors expected to die. Now many of them are healthy and have families, and many more will also find their families.

Good morning, Michael.
