I Love the Fireflys....

I have always been captivated by fireflys. I have lovingly chased them since childhood. Just this week I have started to see them out here on the lake. They flood my heart with memories. I have taught my children to love them too. We catch them gently and keep them in our bug cage, but always let them go before we go in for the night.
Do you have any firefly memories?

I love them too and chased them every summer as a kid.

Ah, another time for me though. I did not let them go but was going to raise them. I learned about the cycle of life.

Jadyn and I will set them free together someday.

Oh, yeah. We used to catch them and put them in jars to try to make our own flashlight. Unfortunately, I think we let them all die though.

Right now my kids are running around in the bad yard chasing some. Which reminds me....I better go put them to bed now, it's getting late!

I mean back yard. Sorry. Typo.

We don't have them in the UK so the first time I saw one was a few years ago and scared the dickens out of me. Now I like them!

yeah, my ex boyfriend used to drive one, and it was the whimpiest car ever made. Made the Lada look like a sedan.

I must preface this comment with -grew up with three brothers.

We used to catch fireflies all of the time. We would put some in jars and try to keep them. Some we made rings out of - don't ask - and then others succumed to a light show on the side walk - again don't ask.

YES, I am not proud of the actions that were taken to poor defenseless fireflies. I will not show our daughter these things. It did give me many good memories of late night evenings spent with my brothers.

We just started noticing them here this week. They are fun little creatures.

When my hubby and I bought our first home our backyard used to twinkle like the milky way, it was so magical.
Hey Sen, I had a firely convertible, I was way cool baby, my brassy hair blowing in the wind.
It wasn't the car girl, must have the beau.

I don't think I've ever seen one in real life. I stole your picture BTW.
