The Closet Challenge...

Jonni at 'Journey to Sofia' challenged me to show Sophia's closet. Well, truth be told, I haven't been purchasing much clothing for her yet. She has one t-shirt, two pairs of mary janes and a pair of slippers that my secret buddy sent her.
I get confused when I go to the store. I don't know what size she will wear or what season she will come, so it's pretty much paralysis by analysis.
I'm sure that when it's closer to the time when she will be coming that I will go on a girly shopping spree, but this is it so far.
Not very impressive is it?

Hmm..who should I challenge? If any of you would like to share your baby closets, jump in.

Of course you must have the red mary janes...they are too cute. How can you resist the shopping bug? It's probably smart that you do...I went a little crazy shopping for Katya and stocked a closet full of enough size 6 winter clothes to clothe 3 or 4 little girls. Then we didn't bring her home until April. Oops. (Hoping they'll still fit next year, as I bought alot of things on sale, and don't want to mess with returning them).

You would not BELIEVE the large amounts of clothes I will have for our Beth. I have everything from my other two girls, plus a friend keeps giving me her cute clothes, plus my cousin keeps giving me her clothes. I will need to weed them out, there is no WAY she can wear everything. It is sad, really, and I feel guilty about it, but the truth is, I didn't buy anywhere near all of it....:-)

I am the same way you are. I have not bought any clothes as I really rather see her picture first. I keep telling myself that I can buy the larger sizes but just haven't. So I didn't think to post a picture of the few items I had - mainly bibs from a bib swap!
I hope I have some friends that will pass along some cute "hand-me-downs" too!

I love Sophia Jane's closet. I bought that t-shirt at Target for Sofia too. It's so cute and the little shoes are adorable. I love those red Mary Janes. Thanks for participating.

There will come a time when you will feel it is the right time to nest and buy. That is really the time when you start to 'let go' and believe it is close. We protect ourselves by not shopping, not doing nurseries etc. But it is one of the most rewarding things to do, and really, there is SO much of it to do. As long as you buy big (>18months) it will fit, and even if it's not the right season, you can afford to let them grow into it (esp size 2T and 3 sizes).
My closet was busting early on, and I prepared for twins, and everyone thought I was being optimisic. Yeah, I was, thought can't I at least have that? It was emotional and difficult letting go of the 'baby baby' sizes. Buy on sale. You will appreciate it later when money must go towards trip, and baby equipment and food. Gosh, we spend over 200 bucks a week on food. Glad I bought clothing consignment and second hand too, and I really haven't bought anything for them except shoes (no red mary janes ;o( and a bathing suit. Budget intact.

You are being very smart, holding off on buying. I am going to try not to buy anymore.

I'm sure I'll have several outfits to pass along to you! I've got everything from size 6-9 months in V's closet to 18 months. I just can't stop myself buying cute things!!

I've taken a break a bit from bloggy land, but am getting back into it again the last week or so.

Confession here: when first logged in I shopped.. and shopped... and shopped
her closet is full, picture on the wall, nursery painted 3 times and is now perfect.
I have no crib, not doing that yet as It looks like a psycho shrine in my nursery.
I've stopped shopping and my mom is just starting.

It's a start!
And, it doesn't take long at all to fill up a sweet baby girl's closet when the time comes!

Ugh...it's a shameless pile of things that I haven't the heart to go through right now. Come referral time I will feel quite differently about that.

Where did you get that tshirt? I've seen it on several blogs but I haven't seen it in the stores. It's adorable!

I had Ava's closet full by the time I went to China. I started collecting stuff last summer, mostly consignment stores. Also started collecting toys from consignment stores, yard sales. The only thing I bought new was her car seat...thought I'd save my money for when she insisted on having the expensive brand name stuff. With regards to the clothes I didn't buy anything under 18months...now that she's home and almost two years old she is only in 12 month clothes with lots of room to grow...so now I'm back to the consignment shops to get smaller sizes...at least she'll grow into the rest.
