It's just stuff you'll need in China...so tuck it away for later. Some people don't even get the envelope...in that case their agency supplies them with the forms later on.
It is kinda fun though to get actual mail from China. I remember how "official" our adoption felt when we got ours. Congrats!
I believe the brown envelope is the equivalent to the immigration papers we fill out in Canada to sponsor an adopted child for permanent residence...we fill ours out and send it into immigration her in Canada and they forward it to the Canadian consolate in Beijing. I love the new look for your blog!!!
You don't do a thing with that brown envelope but wait for China....the story of our lives.
Though some don't ever get the envelope, it's nice to know that the Chinese government actually know you exist. Just getting something from them was exciting for me. They could have sent their clipped toenails and I would be all happy.
Isn't it nice to know the process is still moving? I have a question. You might have answered this previously and just have not come across it yet. Why did you choose to adopt out of country? I love it. I am just curious how you got the thought process going.
Jess, I'll do a post today on how we came to choose to adopt from China. It was a long process. I'll try to encourage some of the other ladies to share their journeys also. I think that people who haven't been led to adopt are often curious as to why many of us seek to go out of the country.
"Once our eyes are opened, we can't pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, KNOWS that we know, and holds us responsible to act." Proverbs 24:12
I am an everyday woman. I am married to my soulmate. I have three sons ages 16,13 & 4. Adoption was never something that I had planned to do, but through an interesting path, God has led me and my husband to pursue the adoption of our daughter Sophia from China. It has changed me in so many ways. I cannot wait to look in the mirror and see the woman I will be when this journey is over.

You don't do a thing with it....for now. Your agency may want to know your GUZ # but that is all.
It feels nice to get it because you know your paperwork didn't disappear but I hear it means nothing if you don't get it.
Some don't even get the envelope. I ended up with two...go figure.
Our agency wanted the GUZ# and then we were told to put it in a safe place, it will go to China.
Congratulations! That is very exciting!!
Congratulations! I'm glad you got it!
Just keep it with your filed info for now! yeah.....congrats to you!

In Canada, we do not get a brown envelope and I'm not sure what its equivalent would be.
